So here I am, 9:00 pm in California, watching you and your crew catching HASSA in Black Bush-Yakusari to be exact...
My brothers crossed "cattle bridge" so many years, going to Boney's farm, for hassa, kookrit, or cutting trees for firewood, which they floated in rafts up the big trench. My family lived in Yakusari from 1962 until 2012, when the last of them left, as over 90 percent of the original population...☹️
When I was a kid, the area where you were fishing, was "spooky" and isolated, and not many went there. I remember for whatever reason, people used to steal the wood off the cattle bridge-all the time! As girls, we weren't allowed to go back there , but once in a while, our brothers would take us to Boney's Farm, which back then, was AMAZING, like a "Garden of Eden" in the middle of the jungle!!! We always entered it in awe and respect! It had all kinds of fruits! I heard so many interesting stories of the bush back then; some true, and some fanciful, but all entertaining! One of my brothers, was a "master" of that bush! He spent his life exploring back there, and never got lost. He had the most amazing stories of seeing bushmasters, jaguars, peccaries, birds...and he never bothered them... He never did well in school, but he knew everything about survival in the jungle back there, places many knew nothing about. A few times, he even had to go find people who got lost.
The bush looks so different now though. I noticed all the trash (plastic bottles mainly), that was never there when I was growing up.

In Guyana Catching hassar or Casudura or armored catfish is very laborious but it is our number one-fish. I would never eat Floridian Hassar because of the Mercury. Nice Catch. Shukran Shukran
