Someone on a metal detecting forum I read earlier said that x-finds "takes it to the next level" haha so I had to look! Only seen this 1 video but my impression is that he assumes everyone knows his finds are seeded by himself, but the purpose of the video to me seems for comedy and entertainment value only. The way its all acted out leaves me thinking he is doing a parody about the hobby for his own entertainment purposes. Of course I've only seen this 1 video so I could be wrong right!? Maybe, but based on the tones in the comments I don't believe so. I thought it was kind of funny the way every single step was pre-planned and done and edited to turn out like an adventure comedy.
I notice he has over 6m subscribers - that’s a livelihood. More than likely he is out there somewhere, roaming those fields, sowing and reaping, sowing and reaping. Just another mortal sufferer, trying to escape economic gravity.
So, he put some coins in a pottery mold shaped it, fired it, glazed it and wrapped with something that was decaying traveled out to an island and buried it. Went back to shore and took the time to make a video of finding it. That is what people are going with instead of wow, cool find. Can we not just say something nice without making everyone an imposter haha. Very cool find and your excitement looked genuine to me. Even is this was all fake, it was very well done and took a lot of time to set up and still deserves a pat on the back.
Interesting, but he’s a destroyer of ancient (?) artefacts. Surely a methodical approach from the start would have yielded a lot of historical information.

I subbed for about 30 secs... til I actually watched a video. As a metal detectorist, it pains me to see so many people believing that this is what metal detecting is. Sorry folks, but in the US, 95% of what you find is trash, 4% is interesting but worthless, and 1% is valuable...but gold coins and diamonds??? Nope. I go out at least 4 full days a month, and have been for years... About twice a year I'll find a nice piece of gold jewelry, maybe a few really nice coins now and then... but mostly historical items and a LOT of junk. If you are considering getting into metal detecting because of what you see on this channel, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. You aren't going to strike it rich. Most of what you're watching here is someone who is view harvesting by seeding impossibly rare and valuable finds. Metal detecting is more about the hunt, and touching history... while enjoying the outtdoors. It's not about getting rich. If you can't get excited by a lead mini-ball, or half a rusted belt buckle, or a button from a comfederate uniform, you're going to get bored quick. Because those are the real treasures. If you're lucky, you might find a steel penny, a few silver half dollars, and Morgan silver dollars. Or if you're extremely lucky, a Liberty Head Nickel, or a 1933 S-G Double Eagle.
