Storytime. 2007. It is floppy disk era, still. There I roamed after comic books, dvd's, movies, movie posters... what is there? A Lan House, slash Cyber Cafe. I had a friend called Paul. Paul would wake up every morning, smear butter into a loaf of bread, eat it while playing a squarelike game. Everybody used to play so much of everything back in the day. Nothing meant nothing. Social media was a distant concept in that particular area of the province. It was 2007, so when that Lan House got built it was still too early for even Facebook, that year. Local areas with computers were still trying to thrive, barely surviving with some retro games as Warcraft 3, Priston Tale and the whole Level Up Games wave rising... so it firstly was about... ourselves. Everybody were what they played most. Plenty of men entered with a loose hat, sometimes a durag, sometimes a backpack, often times after school, this niche would order a Coca-Cola and Cheetos to dive inside of a Counter-Strike 1.6 match, there was of course already Lineage II, Metin 2, Silkroad, a giant storm of MMO's and whatever else. Some would just... slowly click at things. Unsure of what to feel or expect in front of a screen. They were paying of course, just as myself. I would cook around the place thus earn credit which I always spent there. Gunbound was a rush of dopamine that sticks with me until today. Some games developed just enough room where your skill would be contemplated, people would drag their chairs to watch a 4th Kundun drop in MU Online, these types of things, you know? I experienced break-ins from the whole spectrum there, man. From bad guys to good guys until finally the owner after a drunken stupor. Imagine one bathroom for 20 different guys daily. When there was days with no power... we would snap back to reality, of course. I remember storms, one so strong it just flipped a car sideways, it didn't push the car sideways, it just stood vertically against a tree, everybody gathered there quietly, refusing to go back home, all screens turned off, we spent the night there... in fact, many nights... why not... a Legion TD in the middle of the night was always a cure for any headache. Warchasers. Element TD. You look to your side, a fat blob screaming at Kratos by the PS2. This goes way back to 2005/2006/2007 where I first played this game among many others. Met probably 200-1000 life stories living there. It was the biggest social portal I've ever seen. 'Cause when your time is up on the machine, you stayed there at the lounge. So imagine some extremely deep conversations late at night. Saw various men and women heal depression and home anxiety in such a place. Guy would enter there angry after work, jump inside a Left 4 Dead 2 match, flip all rounds as Tank, soon everybody in the place is giddy, joyful as kid, children inside of adult bodies. It wasn't a Lan House. It was a nursery. One beautiful gal once picked me up there (I was only a kid), I thanked and blessed the lords for receiving the awesome accident of female breasts in my face so youngly. Jokes aside, she was waiting for her husband and their daughter was at their feet. Everyone could hear his angry tone by the phone, and she finished the call with ''K, I'll be right here at Chocolate Cyber Cafe.'' in a moody voice. Soon as lady gets some shots fired at COD Black Ops, it opened up even for her kid, she was playing some Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. This game was around, back then. Really around. I never liked it so much. 'Cause I was pretty much already living this social circle on the Cyber Cafe. And all of it on Windows XP. Jesus Christ, bless Bill Gates I guess. Can't imagine how many lives were saved/straightened by that location. There was so much income. Pizzas, books, Umbrella TSHIRTS, DragonBallZ, everybody wanted a Leon button on their backpack, Resident Evil was the shit. All they had to whisper was ''Wesker''... not to mention Dungeons and Dragons, Yugioh, the giant amount of Reggae music, hiphop... those 7 years were golden. Sorry for the long text and thanks if you read so far I guess. Amen.
