- The Palace of Fontainebleau or château de fontainebleau, located 55 kilometres (34 miles) southeast of the centre of Paris, in the commune of Fontainebleau, is one of the largest French royal châteaux. The medieval castle and subsequent palace served as a residence for the French monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III. It is now a national museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

I had forgotten how beautiful it is and the amazing art and sculpting has been done with no computer guidance or power tools . Truly remarkable
If i want to visit France again, I surely would go back again to here, and not so much to Versailles. And quite a good video with comments.
When i visited it, it was quiet, only 4 more tourist. And they were quiet and cultural... they knew too, what this place means. Most lovely palace and place.
It looks run down from the outside. Sad.
@@MsElke11 it's continuously undergoing renovation (you can see scaffoldings in the video) but the chateau is huge, and there's always facade, roofs or windows to work on. Gardens are in great shape though.
Versailles is a tourist hot spot and any visit there is ruined by over crowding. I much prefer to visit Fontainebleau, it is just as interesting with many amazing rooms and the location is beautiful.
What grandeur. I had the pleasure of visiting this palace last year 2019 !!
Grandeur.
Reign brought me here!
The artwork alone would be worth a look see and everything is so well preserved. Loving the vibe and feel of it. I missed seeing Versailles the last time I was there but would have this Palace on my bucket list. Truly beautiful.
I came here from the show "Reign" LOL I was curious on what it really looked like
Same 😂💯

Same ❤️🥰
SUPERB, SUPERB video! Thank you for all your hard work and the meticulous detail - it really carries across well. I’ve stayed in Fontainebleau twice - once as a child in ‘87, and again in ‘92.
Amazing! God bless you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What the heck, are you a descendant of Napoleon or something.
i grew up next to this chateau. visited it countless times. this review explained things i never knew. very well done. merci beaucoup. :)
Glad you liked it!
Very good palace and good video
Beautiful, we visited the palace in 2011.
Um palacio muito lindo , uma maravilha um verdadeiro sonho
O Palácio é extremamente incrível.
Very beautiful and interesting presentation
This is a beautiful video presentation of the marvelous artistic exterior and interior of the Palace of Fontainebleau over the centuries since its first construction; however not nary had any flush toilets had been installed within the Palace of Fontainebleau until the 20th century.
There is a French term for such a reflection on the toilet, it is unfortunately (or fortunately) untranslatable in English, the nice translation is that you are a jerk.
Very beautiful, indeed.
What an interesting reportage ! We visit it every year and we discover every year new visit tour
How much does it cost for a tour of it ?
So nice.
A little anecdote that may be of interest to the Brits. A fortified castle is mentioned here for the first time in 1137 in a charter from the King of Franks, Louis VII the Younger, first husband of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen of England. The exact date of the castle's foundation remains unknown, but the first building was probably built during the reign of Louis VII's father, Louis VI le Gros, or even under that of his grandfather, Philippe I, when he united the Gâtinais to the French royal domain in 1068. In 1169, another charter from King Louis VII established and endowed a chaplain to serve the chapel; this one will be consecrated to the Virgin and to Saint Saturnin by Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury, then a refugee in Sens.
this is beautiful
Thank you Andrea!
Tomorrow I’ll visit this palace
OMG how was it???
Beim Ceremony dann guten Appetit haben
Nice vid
WHY HAS MODERN MAN FORGOTTEN THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CONCEPT OF BEAUTY. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO OUR PSYCHE. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO SEE FOUNTAINBLEU SOME YEARS AGO. ONE OF THE BEST MONUMENTS IN THE WORLD, I PROMISE YOU. DON´T FORGET UK. AUSTRIA, GERMANY, RUSSIA, ETC.
Went there last week
Beautiful architecture. Absolutely fitting for a King and his Queen.
The interior ornamental decor is a bit much. Maybe, less is more. I understand that an impression is worth its weight in gold, but I'd prefer to focus on the beauty of a few pieces of art.
This palace is actually a museum. Do not forget that several kings of France left their mark in the construction and the history of the castle, which is thus a witness of the different phases of the history of France since the Middle Ages.

Yes. You are right. I didn't think of that. Maybe, the curator included decor and artworks from all the eras?
This is the palace which should have been in the live action beauty and the beast. I hate how there are so many beautiful places yet they choose to cgi a castle when there are so many beautiful buildings out there.
Waw amazing and an amazing story.. haha thanx to reign that bring me here haha MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS
Sameeee!!!!!!!!!!
I wanna visit it so badly
