Just found you on Pinterest with your precious patchwork dress, love, love your motivation. I have been sewing since a teen and now 58, I love your style. Keep up the great work.🙏🏼
I’m crocheting a cotton dragonfly pattern, baby blanket in a light shade of the colour teal. I don’t sew very well and I get frustrated with it very easily. One day I hope to improve my sewing skills. Thanks for another great video. I love your work. 🙂🌻
Had a go at making knickers and a bra. I took apart a pair of knickers and used the old fabric as a pattern to cut new fabric (a linen blend), then reused the elastic and lace to make the "new" pair. They are comfortable. Same thing with a bra - used old fabric as a pattern and re-used all the hardware and elastic straps. I also looked at a great tutorial on TH-cam. It is fun!
Carly B I’m so delighted to have found your channel while I was searching for how to sew a ballroom gown just for fun ! Wowed by your talent and brilliant mind. I’m awed by your creativity and your authentic on the spot solutions. I’m so inspired to make a white tiered babydoll dress. I love your puff quarter length sleeves and your ruffled collar design! Thanks for sharing your energetic journey here. I have found a genuine gem in you ❤
I've been "shopping" my linen cupboard lately. Gone through the pillowcases, sheets and quilt covers and am using these for my patchwork projects. It is amazing how much fabric is in a pillowcase!
I'm sick and trying to find content to watch to distract myself from feeling bleh - thank you for helping with that :) Your videos always make me smile. Also, hi from a fellow Christian :)
I just finished a Winnie the Pooh jacket from a vintage baby blanket. It turned out so beautifully!! I definitely spent a lot of time adding more detailed quilting around the Pooh characters. I love it when a project jumps next level!! ❤
You've served me at that theater before! I didn't watch you then though so I didn't say anything, I just recognised you when I found this channel 2 days ago. The world is so small!!! Well I suppose brisbane is very small. Love your work!
Hi Carly, always love to hear you chat about all things sewing! Also, just want to say that it makes me so happy that you're a Christian, hehe. Currently, I'm trying to do patchwork for the first time (really loving the process of it!) and I'm going to use it to cover a handmade book. I got this super cute piece of fabric that has a bunch of different Australian endemic animals as the print. Basically, cutting out different sized blocks that each contain a different animal on it. It's a surprise gift for friends that are moving to Australia, and they can use it to journal their adventures or whatever! I was really inspired by you while making this project. Thanks for the video!
Carly you are delightful to listen to! I somehow came across your channel quite by accident but thought..Hey, lemme give this a listen too! And I am glad I did. I am a full time Etsy shop person (dog bows, collars, bandanas) and always looking for something "sewing" to listen to on TH-cam while I work. I am going to try and find your video on the Juki machine you have. I have been considering one of the Juki industrials for my dog collars. Needle keeps breaking on my juke TL2010Q. So thanks for this video and so nice hearing about your sewing journey! Mo :)
i love hearing you chat about your business! ive been thinking about how to get something like that off the ground without losing that passion for my own creativity and growth. all the insight is so great to hear
I love watching your videos because you are so passionate and I love your enthousiasm (and the things you make of course) have you tried to make a Robert’s.wood pattern yet? I would like to hear your thoughts on those in terms of experimentation with textiles and construction.
I think you’re in QLD, right? So this may be different for you, but in NSW you can do a bunch of TAFE courses for free including sewing courses. They offer them online too. TAFE is good if you don’t want the pressure of uni, but you can take it as far as you want, and the teachers are an incredible resource. Could be worth a look if you’re ever interested in pushing your skills to the next level but not wanting to put the pressure of a private college or uni on yourself. (Although you will have to do the boring workplace safety subjects lol)
As an artist and creative... I can safely say... Regular education is where creativity go to die. As a kindred spirit that always aspire to learn more. I feel like we might be similar in that we put so much implication into our education. We take it seriously, and we proactively learn. Regular education system is made for people who need a structure and not necessarily care about their craft. Pushing these people to have a basis. Not reach their full potential. I think you are doing very well and if you keep going: time, your own inner drive and experience will get you much further than any degree. This is sadly, a sad lesson for myself in the past.
