Despite hardware limitations of the time, one of the best pieces of music ever written, imo. I just wish Elwood makes remake of this one without technical limitations like Captain did with Space debris some years ago.
One of the most impressive things about Elwood is how individually, each sample would sound pretty crappy but the overall track would sound amazing. Classic stuff.
I love how in the actual files back then, some of the composers would include their address hidden in the instrument list, so now after nearly 30 years, thanks to Google Street View, you can see the house somewhere in Finland this masterpiece was composed in :)
This is probably my favourite tracker song of all time. The pure whimsical and carefree feeling of this song with its adventurous tone make it one of a kind. It's so joyful and I always feel like I'm embarking on a quest through the stars when I listen to it. A phenomenal journey.
Good god I remember this from my circa-1998 days. I tried to email Elwood, but no reply--I don't blame him at all. There was no Social Media at the time. Dead Lock is a space-epic track that I couldn't touch back then. It's not even out-of-place in 2016. The re-surge we see now caught my '80s/'90s attuned attention. I get it. It's like drinking from a firehose. You can do it, but you're not catching everything in the first round.
@@KarmusDKI wouldn't be so sure. Back in late 90's many of my 'normie' classmates from music school dabbled in tracker's... the works of Elwood impressed the normies as much as any non-generic person afaik.

Also, Elwood, if you're reading this (and I know you will), thank you for everything. Your tracks are one the best I've heard in my life, and helped me a lot in harder times. @@AlbiNiigataOuen you always have the possibility of using OpenMPT or some other modern tracker software, but if you really want to, just get a fricking commodore amiga and start composing on that

I think it's more like the magic that gets done by a great composer. Trackers were just the nearest tool for the job. If this guy had today's ableton with plugins, he would still produce masterpieces.. but I totally agree, trackers did make magic in the 90s. I sort of miss it. Luckily there is a shit ton of modules around to enjoy.
I vote this as having the catchiest melody in tracking history, and by quite a bit. I can't think of anything else that comes close... any suggestions? Not even Elwood's other works have a melody that make you want to put on a fucking jetpack.
hi I would like to know where the sound samples are downloaded? I have the program but I was hoping to find the sounds but there are not .. Please can you tell me where I can recover the tool libraries? Thank you
I bet this is actually running in Schism Tracker. I played all Elwood tunes in IT back in the day and Deadlock had some glitchy sounds in the chorus due to bugs in the XM playback code!
This music is perfect to be used in a boomer shooter with cute and colorful graphics a la Jumping Flash combined with the violent and visceral action seen in Doom and Quake but with the drawback that the blood and gore are of multiple colors, as if it were a rainbow bath.
