jungkook wrote this song about himself when he wasn't doing well, the lyrics are so deep, he talks about watching himself smiling and being happy and the prefect person whom everyone loves while he's hurting inside. he is insecure about himself and feels like he's never been that perfect person who's good at everything, and most of us relate to this because at the end of the day we all are fragile human beings with feelings, no matter how successful you are or how many friends you have you will feel insecure, it's in human nature to doubt yourself. and we can't really blame him to feel bad about himself when he has so many people who love him , sometimes no matter how many people tell you that you're perfect and you're beautiful it won't make us feel better. this song feels so personal to him and if he doesnt release the full version I won't be upset because we got to hear a small part that portraits his vulnerable side and tells us that sometimes he feels sad too and you're not alone.

I feel like this is a hidden message. He is referring to him, when he sings the first verse. Saying how he “looks perfect” and how he is “good at everything” which is what everyone sees when they watch. But that’s not what he sees or believes. Art technique which is based on pressing paint on two sides and getting identical pictures, like he wants to be that other side of the picture, one to ono with what the world paints him to be. "I want to be your decalcomania", I want to be that exact copy of what you paint me to be. He had no other friend circle but his hyungs whom he loves , i agree. But there are things he hasn't experienced as a normal guy should. So he was only able to do what a humble baby like him would. I come back to this so often and get emotional every time. The lyrics are so raw and heartbreaking. i think this song is about how jungkook views himself on the stage and how he really feels off the stage. he sings how even though on stage he is perfect, good at everything, he doesnt feel like that is really him and when he says "i want you" he is saying he really wants to be that perfect image that people always see on stage, but he doesnt feel like he truly is.

I feel like this is a hidden message.
He is referring to him, when he sings the first verse. Saying how he “looks perfect” and how he is “good at everything” which is what everyone sees when they watch.
But that’s not what he sees or believes. I feel as if he feels lost and confused about what others view him as and what he views himself as. Because what others see and what he sees in himself are two different things, “Your just perfect, feels like I’ve never been you”.
Since he does not know who he really is, he lets others paint who he is and works hard just to be that. “Perfect” and “good at everything”. Because seeing everyone smile is what matters to him.
I hope this makes sense. And this is just my view from the lyrics alone and how much emotion he lets out singing this.

So I'm not the only one who feels like this is actually a really sad and melancholic song. And the title, decalcomania. Art technique which is based on pressing paint on two sides and getting identical pictures, like he wants to be that other side of the picture, one to ono with what the world paints him to be. I'm actually crying while listening to it, it just feels so... real. No filter. But not so direct either, you have to understand it and go just a little bit deeper. The song is beautiful in itself but I'm really hoping he's okay. And that he will be okay, that he can rest a bit from the public and do what he loves, do what his heart tells him his soul needs. He had no other friend circle but his hyungs whom he loves , i agree. But there are things he hasn't experienced as a normal guy should. So he was only able to do what a humble baby like him would. He worked hard enough to keep up the image of a golden maknae. And now he probably fears showing us that one person he is behind the curtains. I have noticed that Jungkook is one of the most misunderstood idols!!! Many assume that he is proud and drag him but every interview of them I have watched, I noticed that he is shy, introverted and so so unsure of himself, in their documentary when asked about his worth he literally said he feels like he does not have much worth, in 2019 they were given stickers to rate how much they love themselves, and out of 5 stars he gave himself 2, his was the lowest. I see a lot of people hype whoever praises the other members but whenever JK is mentioned/praised those same people get mad and say ‘what about the others?’ and all, I hope fans realise that he deserve to be loved and praised for who he is as an artist and also an individual just like the rest. People also like to assume he bullies or disrespect his hyungs, this was started as a joke in the past but nowadays people have started to take it seriously and use this narrative to drag him and victimise the rest, he was never that, they literally play and tease each other, the hyungs always found it easy to tease him and play with him, Jin chose him as his fav lil brother amongst the members during a radio show , he said JK always helps him when he cooks and play along with him, he called kookie his same mental age friend who always understands and plays with him, Jimin says he feels safe with JK, Yoongi talks about how big kookie’s heart is, he chose JK as the member who visits his hotel room the most and he also mentioned JK is the only member who has the password to his Genius Studio when asked in the past. Taehyung said Him and JK never fought, they are partners in crime always got scolded together, Namjoon saying JK is so so hardworking and has a really soft heart and also called him really naive. Hobi, he always talks about how much he adores JK. He always talks about how much kookie cried and hugged and held on to when he almost left the team in the past(before debut), he said JK made him stay!!! His first solo song was about his brothers. I come back to this so often and get emotional every time. The lyrics are so raw and heartbreaking. RM once said that sometimes he doesn’t think it’s fair to be so honest in his music and what he expresses on stage. I wonder if Jungkook felt this way with how honest this piece is. I also remember JK saying how he wishes he could view himself the way other people do. The “good at everything golden maknae” but he feels like he lacks. God it’s just so heartbreaking. I feel like when Jungkook says “when I see you smile in the screen, you’re good at everything, you’re just perfect” then he is referring to watching videos back of himself and at how perfect he looks on screen. Then when he says “feels like I’ve never been you” then he is saying that he feels like that was never him and how he truly is and he wants to show that side to people like Army, but for so long now he has just been the Jungkook that we all know, so he doesn’t think that he can show the true side of himself.
