Marcus Fenix is the main character of the original trilogy, and the story focuses on him trying to keep Humanity ticking along with his best friend since childhood/emotional support Dominic Santiago (The character next to him and the one who smashed the drinks at 8:40). The story starts when Dom busts Marcus out of Military Prison for going AWOL in a failed attempt to save his father. Colonel Hoffman pardoned everyone else but left Marcus to die. Anya Stroud is Marcus' Intelligence Officer who he fell in love with, but she wasn't allowed to actually fight because *ahem* "People are much harder to replace in an apocalypse than anything else". By Gears of War 3, the situation is so dire that they can't afford to not use every available soldier possible, and so she becomes a playable character. People had been asking for it since Gears 1, so her being shown with her own Lancer was a huge deal leading up to the game being released
It really is a shame that copyright got in the way of some of the more emotional parts of the games. Yes, it's mostly action but the connections and the more humanity part of the games are really the reason why people love this series. Think of it like the MCU, people always misconstrued it as just action comic book movies. But once they actually sit down and watch it, they're always hooked on how much depth is put in the characters and stories. That's Gears. You have a connection with Marcus Fenix and his squadron.
We will have to check those other trailers out at some point. But this was at least a good enough intro to the franchise to pique our interest. Now just need the story to hook Bethany 😇

The Locust are one of the best antagonistic armies in videogame history, hands down. They range from the chimp-like Wretch, to the massive spider-like Corpsers, they're very cool.

Gory as all hecc, and super scary (If you know about the wretches, you know the screams were terrifying hearing them for the first time) and it was just an all-round amazing game franchise. You two are “definitely” in for a treat playing The Gears of War games!! Yes all games are co-op/ multiplayer. Also the story is really good as well, both of you can play all 3 campaigns in story co-op mode which is fantastic! I have played all 3 original Gears of War games… they are Excellent! After you guys finish Gears of War 3, look into playing Gears of War 4 and Gears 5! Ps: The Gears games have a cover system and they want you to use it, it’s called stop and pop. Have fun with those games!!

Ive been playing these games over 15 years, met one of my best friends online playing when he was 15 an i was 20 we are both in our 30s now. Really good series for sure. I would recommend them for sure really great story and the mp is fun as well.
Honestly, Gears of War is one of the best story telling, action packed games I've ever played. I miss the old days of firing up my 360 and playing through the campaigns with friends over and over again.
It really is quite an emotional trilogy. These trailers convey more of the action and military/gameplay stuff. The announcement trailers for each of the games are far more emotional and you should definitely watch them even if it’s off camera.

This is another one of those games (much like Halo) that features a fantastic story and universe along with great gameplay. And to confirm, this is couch co-op and I would LOVE to see you guys experience this story as well. Halo was so fun to watch. Also, nailed it perfectly with Starship Troopers meets Halo. Ohhhh gears of war…. The story for 1-3 were awesome. Very emotional and intense. I hold this game close to me , remember playing it with my best friend til like 1 in the morning Every day during highschool haha.
Really good reaction. Hope you guys react to the full games soon. If I were you I would watch a walkthrough of gears of war 2 first. It’s by far my favorite in the series. Has an amazing campaign. It also has a level that contains a few subtle hints about the Locust’s (the main enemy faction’s) origins and the whole game just has this amazing atmosphere of hopelessness. It’s a masterpiece.
Knowing the lore of this game is insane. This planet was at war for 100 years I belive and only after a few weeks of peace this war begins. It so crazy how they are constantly fighting for their lives For the girl in the last trailer is his girlfriend/wife/love intrest depending on the game.
The guy with pic is Dom.....he tried searching for his wife and when he did ......it was savage and emotional.....so if you guys decide to see cutscenes.....better be emotionally strong
Reminder 1:in tekken 7 story mode you don't see jin that much the story mainly focuses on kazuya and heihachi which is a part of the story you guys haven't learned that much about and the best in my opinion EDIT : there won't be any heavy spoilers in these
I remember Gears...my very first xbox 360 game I got for my 16th birthday. My dad took my and my best friend up to a Movie Trading Company where I got my console and the game. Many good memories came from the franchise. Then when Gears 2 and 3 came out, my cousin and I searched all of town for a Blockbuster that still had a copy on day one. Think it was maybe the 4th or 5th store we tried before we finally nabbed one. And for each one, we powered through the campaigns with all-nighters. Ah...those were the good ol' days. Sadly now, my cousin and I don't talk anymore and life has caught up to all my old friends, so we don't talk anymore either. Such a shame. But I still cherish the many memories formed over the series.
Life gets in the way of childhood friendships. One of the sucky things about being an adult 😝. But appreciate you sharing that story with us. Makes me think of my friends and me Rez’ing it up whenever a new Resident Evil game came out. 😊

When it comes to Gears of War I've always loved it more than Halo when it comes to Xbox exclusives. It's my favorite one. Can't wait to see more from you guys when it comes to Gears! And the woman in the third trailer was in the 3 first games and is the love interest of the guy you were talking about.
This series did an interesting thing with the story at least for the first game. There was a huge amount of back story with all the characters and the war that I don't think was ever released until later. Like for example, the guy with the du rag and the colonel had a whole thing that wasn't really explained until the 3rd game but you can experience that relationship through their interactions in the game. They had such strong characters that it kind of worked. Feel like that feel apart in Gears4-5 where they changed the studio. The new ones kind of had that "we want money" feel to them. Also that story didn't need to go on. 3 pretty much wrapped everything up. I guess on the plus side you can just pretend 4 never happened I guess. Unfortunately, this game did so good it started the whole regenerating health knee high wall thing for shooters until Titian's Fall 2 and Doom came out. The eternal march to copy the successful thing of the year. But given what happened to a lot of the survivors, I'd take going up in the fireball honestly. A lot of the deaths in this series are not quick. It's pretty much a Warhammer 40,000 game to be honest.

Just found myself coming back to this and I still lament the fact that this video excluded Ashes to Ashes & Dust to Dust - the two trailers for Gears 3. They are a lot more emotional and great signifiers that we're hitting the sombre finale for these characters.
The guy in the first 2 is Marcus Fenix, he is a soldier in the cog or the coalition of ordered governments and stroud is the last name of that lady, the dude and her In the 4th game actually have a child, JD fenix named after Marcus's best friend Dominic so James Dominic Fenix
When this game was in the works. It was referred to as the Halo killer. All though it never did that. This game stands on its own and is an amazing series. This is also a great co-op play!!

There's another series you should look into "Resistance Fall of Man" it's an alternate history game where in the 1950s humanity is fighting for survival against an overwhelming monster horde
There's a lot of good arguments for dying in the first blast of an "end of the world" event. First if the chance of survival is really minimal and you're of a certain age chances are you'll never live long enough for things to ever get even close to back to normal. Meaning you'll always be living in a nightmare with even worse dreams of how things once were but will never be again. Imagine those long nights remembering things as they were while huddled in the burnt out ruins of an old ballpark bullpen for instance. Cold, hungry, often alone. Hoping cannibals, raiders or other "lost souls" don't find you while you try to sleep for a few hours, only to have horrible dreams of watching everything you once knew disappear. Second if you die early you'll never have to live to watch all those you care about die horrible deaths. Especially if you know a lot of people with medical conditions or even with few survival skills. Every person you know with a serious health issue that requires regular drug maintenance, diabetes for instance, is going to die a slow and horrible death as medical supplies run out. So if you have a kid or an aging parent with that sort of problem you'll slowly get your heart torn out watching your loved one suffer and die while you can do nothing to stop it. Third, unless you know about hunting, fishing, farming or gardening you'll watch yourself slowly starve to death. Unless you're going in with an encyclopedic level knowledge of roots, moss, mushrooms, where to dig for water in the wild, what medicines can be gathered from woodland and wild plants, you'll also be at a loss for most other basics. So your skill set has to be very good to start with for even a modicum of decent life to be kept. Fourth are you trained with at least one or two weapons that either require little maintenance or few resources to keep useable? Most of those that believe they want to survive generally are not able to either fletch arrows or bolts, nor are they aware of how to make gunpowder for bullets. And few are able to work blacksmithing tools to keep a melee weapon in useable shape long term. Meaning that survival follows the same nightmare scenario of continuing supply loss as pre-event supplies dry up or become worthless due to age and exposure to weather conditions. Meaning that eventually most people will find themselves at the mercy of someone who does know how to survive and develop new sources of ammo or weapons. Or leaving you to the tender mercies of those that seize control of existing munitions factories or Army or National Guard armories at the moment of the event. Sadly, my father and grandfather trained me in a lot of those survival skills so I will get to live long enough to not really want to still be alive if the end ever comes. Because life isn't going to be a pleasant time in the Apocalypse. In fact most survivors will probably eat some metal to get out of it before the cold painful end comes stalking them down. So if it comes I have to hope that I happen to go down in the first wave not knowing anything is coming or shortly thereafter.

I'd strongly advise you both to go and play Gears of War 1-3. Been a gears fan since day 1 back in 2006 and I've never seen a franchise cause such an emotional roller-coaster like those first 3 games have, especially 2 and 3
The Lancer rifle is the wierdest yet awesome versatile weapon.....and the chainsaw for ripping loctus soldiers ( alien bugs who's planet the humans are occupying by the way)

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah, there is one for Sylvanas and Anduin - In the "Sylvanas book' epilogue Sylvanas starts working to rescue the souls from the Maw and she hears clinging of armor, community speculated it was Anduin coming towards her as he said to his friend Genn that he's not coming back to Azeroth yet because he feels guilty of what he's done while being dominated by the Jailer.. and it is him! How that goes you'll see for yourself. The second one is about Calia Menethil [sister of Arthas] and how she rejoins her people the Forsaken [that were lead by Sylvanas until late BfA] and their return to ruins of Lordaeron. The final one is about Tyrande and the hint for the future of the Night Elfs. I'm sure people will be eager to explain it more or answer question that you have for you guys after you watch'em. Wowhead has all the new cutscenes on their channel if you want easy acces.
I would really recommend you to play the games from gear judgment all the way to gears 5 in which they explain the locus origins and how the Lambent (glowing zombies) came to be, the story telling its just amazing, my favorite game is halo but gears of wars almost de throne it
Yay for Gears of War! That is a game I haven't played in a very long time. From what I remember of the lore. The game is set in another World than Earth, called Sera. Humans colonises the planet of Sera a few thousand years before the first game. Then the lore kinda becomes like War of the Worlds with the locust living Underground without humans Knowing about their existence. But in a sense the humans are actually the aliens. But the games themselves are very fun and action Packed. But also kinda scary at times. I remember from the first game that there was a whole section of the game where it was at night. The thing that was really scary was that you HAD to stay in the light. Since there apparently are monster called Kryll flying around. They are like a hybrid of a small bat and a piranha. The thing about Them that is scary is they Work in a swarm. So if you go into the darkness, they Will swarm you and tear your flesh until you are only bone in a matter of seconds. One of the intense moments are when you have to push a burning car down a small Hill. And you have to run after it to stay in the light, Else you Will die. Also the whole buildup to these creatures really set the mood for how scary they are.

I remember Gears...my very first xbox 360 game I got for my 16th birthday. My dad took my and my best friend up to a Movie Trading Company where I got my console and the game. Many good memories came from the franchise. Then when Gears 2 and 3 came out, my cousin and I searched all of town for a Blockbuster that still had a copy on day one. Think it was maybe the 4th or 5th store we tried before we finally nabbed one. And for each one, we powered through the campaigns with all-nighters. Ah...those were the good ol' days. Sadly now, my cousin and I don't talk anymore and life has caught up to all my old friends, so we don't talk anymore either. Such a shame. But I still cherish the many memories formed over the series.
Life gets in the way of childhood friendships. One of the sucky things about being an adult 😝. But appreciate you sharing that story with us. Makes me think of my friends and me Rez’ing it up whenever a new Resident Evil game came out. 😊

When it comes to Gears of War I've always loved it more than Halo when it comes to Xbox exclusives. It's my favorite one. Can't wait to see more from you guys when it comes to Gears! And the woman in the third trailer was in the 3 first games and is the love interest of the guy you were talking about.

This series did an interesting thing with the story at least for the first game. There was a huge amount of back story with all the characters and the war that I don't think was ever released until later. Like for example, the guy with the du rag and the colonel had a whole thing that wasn't really explained until the 3rd game but you can experience that relationship through their interactions in the game. They had such strong characters that it kind of worked.
Feel like that feel apart in Gears4-5 where they changed the studio. The new ones kind of had that "we want money" feel to them. Also that story didn't need to go on. 3 pretty much wrapped everything up. I guess on the plus side you can just pretend 4 never happened I guess.
Unfortunately, this game did so good it started the whole regenerating health knee high wall thing for shooters until Titian's Fall 2 and Doom came out. The eternal march to copy the successful thing of the year.
But given what happened to a lot of the survivors, I'd take going up in the fireball honestly. A lot of the deaths in this series are not quick. It's pretty much a Warhammer 40,000 game to be honest.
Something about trilogies. Anything beyond that seems hard to continue story wise. Rule of three expands beyond comedy it seems 🤔
Gears of war is the best Xbox game ever created gritty and just so fucking amazing and the story telling is phenomenal and just man i can't say enough good things
Just found myself coming back to this and I still lament the fact that this video excluded Ashes to Ashes & Dust to Dust - the two trailers for Gears 3. They are a lot more emotional and great signifiers that we're hitting the sombre finale for these characters.
Gears is probably one of the most underrated sci-fi games ever.
If you can even call it a sci-fi, I feel it's in it's own genre almost.

The guy in the first 2 is Marcus Fenix, he is a soldier in the cog or the coalition of ordered governments and stroud is the last name of that lady, the dude and her In the 4th game actually have a child, JD fenix named after Marcus's best friend Dominic so James Dominic Fenix

When this game was in the works. It was referred to as the Halo killer. All though it never did that. This game stands on its own and is an amazing series. This is also a great co-op play!!

There's another series you should look into "Resistance Fall of Man" it's an alternate history game where in the 1950s humanity is fighting for survival against an overwhelming monster horde

There's a lot of good arguments for dying in the first blast of an "end of the world" event.
First if the chance of survival is really minimal and you're of a certain age chances are you'll never live long enough for things to ever get even close to back to normal. Meaning you'll always be living in a nightmare with even worse dreams of how things once were but will never be again. Imagine those long nights remembering things as they were while huddled in the burnt out ruins of an old ballpark bullpen for instance. Cold, hungry, often alone. Hoping cannibals, raiders or other "lost souls" don't find you while you try to sleep for a few hours, only to have horrible dreams of watching everything you once knew disappear.
Second if you die early you'll never have to live to watch all those you care about die horrible deaths. Especially if you know a lot of people with medical conditions or even with few survival skills. Every person you know with a serious health issue that requires regular drug maintenance, diabetes for instance, is going to die a slow and horrible death as medical supplies run out. So if you have a kid or an aging parent with that sort of problem you'll slowly get your heart torn out watching your loved one suffer and die while you can do nothing to stop it.
Third, unless you know about hunting, fishing, farming or gardening you'll watch yourself slowly starve to death. Unless you're going in with an encyclopedic level knowledge of roots, moss, mushrooms, where to dig for water in the wild, what medicines can be gathered from woodland and wild plants, you'll also be at a loss for most other basics. So your skill set has to be very good to start with for even a modicum of decent life to be kept.
Fourth are you trained with at least one or two weapons that either require little maintenance or few resources to keep useable? Most of those that believe they want to survive generally are not able to either fletch arrows or bolts, nor are they aware of how to make gunpowder for bullets. And few are able to work blacksmithing tools to keep a melee weapon in useable shape long term. Meaning that survival follows the same nightmare scenario of continuing supply loss as pre-event supplies dry up or become worthless due to age and exposure to weather conditions. Meaning that eventually most people will find themselves at the mercy of someone who does know how to survive and develop new sources of ammo or weapons. Or leaving you to the tender mercies of those that seize control of existing munitions factories or Army or National Guard armories at the moment of the event.
Sadly, my father and grandfather trained me in a lot of those survival skills so I will get to live long enough to not really want to still be alive if the end ever comes. Because life isn't going to be a pleasant time in the Apocalypse. In fact most survivors will probably eat some metal to get out of it before the cold painful end comes stalking them down. So if it comes I have to hope that I happen to go down in the first wave not knowing anything is coming or shortly thereafter.

The locust are basically a science project gone wrong I won't spoil anything else.
And there are a dozen more trailers even better then these.

I'd strongly advise you both to go and play Gears of War 1-3. Been a gears fan since day 1 back in 2006 and I've never seen a franchise cause such an emotional roller-coaster like those first 3 games have, especially 2 and 3

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah, there is one for Sylvanas and Anduin - In the "Sylvanas book' epilogue Sylvanas starts working to rescue the souls from the Maw and she hears clinging of armor, community speculated it was Anduin coming towards her as he said to his friend Genn that he's not coming back to Azeroth yet because he feels guilty of what he's done while being dominated by the Jailer.. and it is him! How that goes you'll see for yourself.
The second one is about Calia Menethil [sister of Arthas] and how she rejoins her people the Forsaken [that were lead by Sylvanas until late BfA] and their return to ruins of Lordaeron.
The final one is about Tyrande and the hint for the future of the Night Elfs.
I'm sure people will be eager to explain it more or answer question that you have for you guys after you watch'em.

I would really recommend you to play the games from gear judgment all the way to gears 5 in which they explain the locus origins and how the Lambent (glowing zombies) came to be, the story telling its just amazing, my favorite game is halo but gears of wars almost de throne it

Yay for Gears of War! That is a game I haven't played in a very long time. From what I remember of the lore. The game is set in another World than Earth, called Sera. Humans colonises the planet of Sera a few thousand years before the first game. Then the lore kinda becomes like War of the Worlds with the locust living Underground without humans Knowing about their existence. But in a sense the humans are actually the aliens. But the games themselves are very fun and action Packed. But also kinda scary at times. I remember from the first game that there was a whole section of the game where it was at night. The thing that was really scary was that you HAD to stay in the light. Since there apparently are monster called Kryll flying around. They are like a hybrid of a small bat and a piranha. The thing about Them that is scary is they Work in a swarm. So if you go into the darkness, they Will swarm you and tear your flesh until you are only bone in a matter of seconds. One of the intense moments are when you have to push a burning car down a small Hill. And you have to run after it to stay in the light, Else you Will die. Also the whole buildup to these creatures really set the mood for how scary they are.
Looking forward to playing it and get some scary and tense moments and from what we hear a really emotional story 😊
