@@VL-lq1uw I stumbled upon a used copy of Marianne Faithfull's 'Broken English' album on vinyl last week. I'd only ever heard the title song (which is brilliant) and then this song followed. It sounded great, and I was struggling to recall where I'd heard it before until it finally hit me. This cover is good, but MF's voice has the sort of heartrending brokenness of Billie Holliday in the last decade of her life and is absolutely perfect for the song. The original has a sort of "Solsbury Hill" vibe to the percussion and percussion, which is funny considering that there's a Peter Gabriel cover on The Craft soundtrack as well as this one.
