I found this at a Ross for 14.99 in black. I got into TH-cam at the store and found this review which helped me decide. This looks good for emergency situations.
1) To Todd- Thank you for the review. I was 90% going to get it after a friend’s associate showed it to me; the review clinched it. Now following your channel, which will make me buy more radios I don’t need, but will want! 2) Apologies for not buying from your sponsored link, but 3) Thank you to all the commenters who mentioned getting it at Ross. I couldn’t find it near me, but was visiting a relative 2 hours away, and found 2 on the shelf! (Only got one) FYI to others reading. My local Ross told me they get about 2 a week off the truck, and they sell in minutes. My cousin lives in a larger metro area. Don’t know if they get more, or fewer people here want one. Also only had silver at thisRoss. And it was charged out of sealed box and started charging and playing as soon as I flipped solar panel up ina well lit room
Just bought mine @ Ross store for $15.99 Honolulu, HI Aug 26, 2023. Was looking for other things and found this diamond in the rough. Great review, I will do the battery upgrade and diy the SW antenna.
Took the battery out, ran it off the solar. Got a local radio station real clear with some glitches, the louder the volume was turned up. Bought it at Ross. I've noticed these Chinese companies make the same things with variations, depending on the brand. I've worked, state emergencies and this would have been nice to have at that time when we found ourselves without electricity. The $15 price tag made it a sweet deal.
I bought one like this last month. Actually, I got three. I use the 18650 batteries on other radios, but I like it as are easy to tune, and the knobs rotate correctly as some radios from China have controls like volume that are reversed.
I really love it. Just wish it had regular AA battery option too. The foldable bigger Solar Panel really is so much better than these small gimmicky stripes they add on so many radios just for the sake of "emergency power" when they still don't really charge a lot even in direct sunlight. But this one here with that size, i'd really think would actually be enough to even power the radio properly on a sunny day, without sucking any power from the battery.
I was testing out the CC Solar Observer, and I was able to use the dynamo to run the radio with no battery attached. While not ideal, it is fantastic in a Weather Emergency.
Noticed that on the back of the radio by the solar panel is a screw connection for an antenna. And yes, it looks like a bi red brick. I do like how you can add MP3 audio files to the radio, but I’m a novice and still not certain how to do it on my particular computer. Nice audio through the built in speaker. Does it come in yellow?(Would make a cool little emergency radio.)
Nice radio, it isn't a DSP tuned radio? How do you get a radio on sale? Is there a way to save a search on Amazon like you can on eBay? Thanks for your videos
I was just browsing and found it on sale, there is a way to setup an alert if the price drops on an item..have not done it myself yet though. It is a DSP radio.

I bought a supersonic after seeing your reviews on it. After my first one I bought 3 more. 1 for the house, 2 to keep in my truck and suv to listen to on lunch breaks and 1 for my mom. How would this compare with my supersonic overall? Love your channel! Always entertaining 👍🏼
I like that the Supersonic can run from AAs. The QFX actually does a wonderful job on all of its functions. The Supersonic is more portable, but the QFX will not tip over :) Solar Power is a neat feature, along with the ability to run on 18650 flat tops.
I bought one in case the desecration hits the oscillating device and need to know what’s going on in the outside world. Until then it’s going in a faraday bag.

@Melanie , Once in awhile. Mainly my Patrons benefit from behind the scenes work I do for the channel, any deals I may find I share with them before releasing to the General Public. ($14.99 plus tax)
And the sound really is amazingly good
The solar panel and AM reception sold me!
I think this radio is so cool. Awesome solar panel on the back. Pretty decent flashlight too. Cheers!
This is a pretty cool radio and battery pack. The features look interesting for daily travels. I’ll definitely buy two of them

Awesome! An extended version of the Ironman song! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Interesting it gets enough energy with the panel to run the Speaker...cool!
@@todderbert don't tell anybody, they might raise the prices, LoL 🤣. What's the next item?
I just bought a black one at Ross in Kingman, AZ for $14.99
The best reviews I'm buying it
Good job with reaching 25 k subscribers.
Thanks Dawson, watch for a special celebration video this month :)
I bought two of these QFX solars, they work great except I can't get the port for cell phone to work.
You have to turn the red button onto output for it to charge your phone

Got one today just like the one in your video but in black. So far I really like it. Thanks for explaining and being so detailed on how to use it.

@@todderbert Awesome that it works! Which means you could technically still power it with dead rechargeable and listen to something while cranking it.
Holy cow I can’t believe it Todderbert likes a QFX radio. What’s next cats and dogs living together? It’s the seventh sign!
thankx youve done a good review. and now had it a while so what is approximately the 18650 battery life 1500mah button and a 2500mah flat top
Expect around 10-12 hours on stock, and 15-20 Hours on a 2500.
@@todderbert great thanks very important info
How long is the battery life on the stock battery vs the other one you put in?
Ten Hours versus Twenty Six. If the volume is kept at a normal low to middle range.
Is it waterproof?
Will this work on solar only with no battery in the compartment at all?
It needs a battery, the solar panel is attached to the charge circuit with no pass through.
as always thanks! Yes this look fun!
Where can I music you use for your testing?
How is the ssb on Sangean 909 and the Sony 7600GR compared?
Similar, though the 909X does better with an external antenna. If you meant the earlier 909 model, then I am not sure since I do not own one.
😮How to charge it😢
Best to use a Micro USB cable on the side jack. Works like a charm.

Comes in Red, Black or Blue atm. Would be awesome in Yellow. I know the FM antenna is allowed to pivot when the solar panel is brought up 90 degrees.

I would pack the batteries in a separate container, just in case.
What I want to do is attach it to a short wave "slink"tenna and for 15 bucks it's worth every bit of my my soldering skills.
Porqué mi radio 📻 prende y al rato se apaga lo prendo y el mismo se apaga
Cool one. The smallest i have is a horologe.
💀💀💀 WTF OMG 😱😰😳 SOMETHING VARY INTERESTING HAPPENED DURING (SOUNDWAVE DEMO) AT 23:55

It's a great radio for the price. Sounds nice, but battery life could be better. Seems to need charging after only a few hours.
Uses some juice, I upgraded my battery to a 3000+mah one.
I love tha i have one tha good
49m band is wrong frequency range.
