Overhauling the structure of education in ghana is long overdue. Even the blind can see that the current regime of education is not working. The problem is not overhauling it, it is doing it in a way that will produce better outcomes. What we have now is good at producing test takers and not many thinkers. On not requiring BECE, i will go as far as to abolish WAEC. It has been the single most detrimental institution in the education system. Students must see every exercise they undertake as an important part of their learning and accreditation, however, having the benefit of a stand-alone assessment in the future means that most students can decide to wing it through out their time in school only to cram in information in the last two months of a 3yr high school diploma.
