Alesha can win/kill on turn 3: turn 1: Red producing land, faithless looting, discarding a master of cruelties. turn 2: Black or white producing land, sol ring, lighting grieves turn 3: Black or white producing land, tap sol ring and red producing land to cast Alesha, equip lightning grieves to Alesha, Attack and pay two hybrid orzhov and reanimate master of cruelties attacking, their life total becomes one and if alesha is unblocked they take 3 and die.
Lim-Dul's Paladin is my absolute favorite card for the Alesha deck. He works just all too well with Alesha. So during your upkeep you either discard a card from your hand (an opportune time to get something in there that Alesha can res) or bury him and draw a card. (Which also gives you something to res along with card advantage.) If you do whip him out with Alesha he is a damn good attacker too, becoming a 6/6 with trample if blocked or if he isn't blocked they lose 4 life which gets around fog effects. The only weakness he really has is that he is a 0/3 when not being blocked so he can be bolted but that just gives more opportunities to res him!
If you are running Kiki jiki I see no reason to not have restoration angel. Sure you can't get her back with Alesha but she protects Alesha from either a spell or an ill fated attack. Plus if you buried alive, instead of master of cruelty, you can get Restoration Angel, Kiki, and karmic guide. Swing to revive karmic guide bringing back an untapped Kiki who makes another guide bringing back resto for the infinite swing next turn. Also I think avacyn is a beautiful peace of protection for anyone playing Alesha. I commonly bury alive avacyn, karmic, and gisela. Gg. Alternatively, if you want to go for the token strategy, Mogg War Marshall is value on top of value. Good episode. Keep it up
One thing on pentavus, if you break it into the 5 fliers, then bring him back you could sac the fliers back to him and get a 10/10 on the ground. Or just keep making him bigger. Just a thought with how easy he is to bring back.
Liliana, Heretical Healer wants to be BFFs with Alesha. She is super easy to flip to a sac outlet, gets some mill, could reanimate and her ultimate wouldn't be bad esp in a multiplayer game. Plus, if/when she dieds Alesha could pull her back.
Wouldn't high modular creatures work great with this? They are all 0/0 without their counters so that should trigger Alesha's ability and if you had a decent sack outlet (Arcbound Ravager would be both Modular and an outlet), you could just keep stacking the counters higher and higher each turn. Also would need more ways to copy Alesha's ability. I haven't finished the podcast, so they may bring this up.
Josh Lee Kwai with pentavus though, you could move the modular counters onto him and make pentavites. He doesn't care where the counters come from, just that they are there to sacrifice
In terms of sick cards with power 2 or less, there's Avalanche Riders for repeatable land destruction, Karmic Guide to double up on your reanimation or to reanimate something big that got milled like Iroas, or with a sac outlet Priest of the Blood Rite?
Funny enough, I managed to play around Avacyn in my last match, just straight up ignored her. Indestructible critters don't mean jack if you're sneaking enough damaged through every turn.
I'm thinking about putting my dragonlord Silumgar deck on tapped out to hopefully let you guys see it and see what you would change basically the entire deck is stealing others cards . Card draw tutors . And board wipes . Also I play rise of the dark realm just to bring back all the creatures in the yard . It's a really fun deck that iv built in real life I'm considering throwing in a few extra turns but idk if it needs it as much
Key is one of my favorite cards in the deck. The shenanigans you can pull with a key and a stinkweed imp or golgari thug on untap upkeep draw is just insane. Trigger the untap draw ability with dredge in the yard, dredge away with untap draw, before drawing for draw step, discard dredge card with key, dredge again on draw. You now have a small library to reanimate
why does master of cruelties work and not ankle shanker they have the same wording,"whenever this minion attacks its effect happens" if ankle shanker doesn't work than master of cruelties shouldn't work either right?
You need to read the specific text on the card to understand the difference. Ankle Shanker says "When Ankle Shanker attacks" meaning a player has declared the creature as an attacker. Master of Cruelties specifies more with "Whenever Master of Cruelties attacks a player and isn't blocked". It is weird wording, but because Master's text says "and isn't blocked", that's the relevant part of his text when it comes to how it works in combat. If it didn't have that text, it would be a different situation, but "attacks and isn't blocked" has its own entry in the comprehensive rules: "An ability that triggers when a creature “attacks and isn’t blocked” triggers when the creature becomes an unblocked attacking creature. See rule 509.1h." this is also addressed here: "509.4g An ability that reads “Whenever [this creature] attacks and isn’t blocked, . . .” triggers if no creatures are declared as blockers for that creature. It will trigger even if the creature was never declared as an attacker (for example, if it entered the battlefield attacking). It won’t trigger if the attacking creature is blocked and then all its blockers are removed from combat." That is the key difference between Ankle Shanker and Master of Cruelties.

I disagree. Anku shanku is very good at protecting alesha & co when attacking. It might not be the greatest reanimate target but just having a 5 mana pump spell that also pumps the reanimated target (just put the reanimate trigger before ankle shankers) is straight up good in such a low power deck

I'm not sure if this is how you guys want submissions for Deck Doctors, but I've been debating on constructing an Avacyn deck for a while, and I've been playtesting it with a friend via a computer program (Cockatrice, google it). Here's a link to it: tappedout.net/mtg-decks/yeahno/ My problems tend to be the high mana cost on Avacyn and getting my win conditions of Magus of the Disk or Worldslayer, etc. onto the field fast. I've been tempted to run things like Planar Gate or Urza's Incubator to help remedy the first one but that seems a bit.... less worth, you know? I've also made a Sisters of Stone Death deck as well. I designed it for spamming Tooth and Nail with a crapton of mana via Cabal Coffers and Eternal Witness / Temur Sabertooth. I mean, I get a crapload of fat guys on the field and just can't close because I don't have a haste outlet for what I bring out with Tooth and Nail. Sadly, I think that Master of Cruelties wouldn't work with Alesha's ability. The same reason why he's allowed to go into combat with other creatures is the same reason his second ability wouldn't resolve. "Whenever Master of Cruelties ATTACKS and isn't blocked" he never attacked, he is just attacking. I THINK that's how that would work, but I'm not 100%. (I've spent a fair bit of time looking into Alesha and her intereactions.)
Alesha ability says 'tapped and attacking' he does attack, he doesn't have to be declare as an attacker for his ability to triggers, its triggers after blocks are declared,

I've also got myself a Master of Cruelties to play with a Break Through the Lines (heheheh), as well as Vampire Hexmage (for Planeswalker kills), Nekrataal (for Creature kills), Preist of Thune (for enchantment kills), Avalanche Riders (for Land kills), Grand Abolisher (for insurance) and a whole host of other scrappy monsters. It's so RED!

Mentor of the meek also rewards pretty much all of the deck.
