I like how Chloe exposed Michael in this episode. All what she did was in order to expose him. And I love this because that shows how well she knows Lucifer, all minor details about him, even how he kisses, what he likes, what imperfections and habits he has, how he flirts and that he always carries big denominations of money in his pockets. And I just love how she shot Michael. What a badass queen 🔥
As for Michael's stance, as Amedadiel(?) said, Michael feels inferior to Lucifer, you might even say he has a chip on his shoulder, Angels self actualize...
@@danilooliveira6580 I suppose it could be a broken arm, but it takes something like a demon blade to do permanent damage, so why wouldn't the arm heal?
Tbh, the trailer for season 5 had the scene when Michael fights Maze and says "i'm not Lucifer, i'm Michael" so no surprise for anyone watching the trailer =/
You will understand why the twin concept as you proceed in this season. But it is to mainly establish how opposite they are, it is intentional and not a trope as you go ahead. Btw it's taken from the comics.
Agreed. I notice not many Lucifans are familiar with the comics. The Sandman series will give us the prequel “kind of” of this version of Lucifer. Many may be upset if they are not familiar with Lucifer’s first appearance in DC Comics but he looked androgynous modeled after the late great David Bowie. The up to date version is closer to the show and as a reader of the comics I’m sure you noticed the characteristics they’ve taken from the books and given to other characters and kind of swapped Yuriel and Amenadiel. I wonder if you and I have similar theories on the series finale. In addition, in Season 2 the God Johnson episode and revealed belt buckle reflected how the Presence aka God communicates with Lucifer and very rarely takes human form.
@@mikelarsen5836 Fair point Mike. This is why I find is so extraordinary how the comic elements were slowly added just enough not to throw off the Deckerstar fans and where the audience can appreciate it.
Yes, Michael and Lucifer are twins in the comics, but in the comics they are not identical. I think they did the identical thing here to keep Chloe and Lucifer apart for as long as possible without sidelining Tom Ellis in the process.
13:06 if it makes you feel better it was Tom Ellis who suggested the American accent. The nasally accent and poor posture are meant to be part of his weasel like persona.

Michael and Lucifer are twins in the comic which the series took a slow methodical approach to bringing in comic book elements. We all know Lauren is a very good actress, but Chloe's acting skill also seems to improve in this episode, not over acting like she normally does. Perhaps Chloe is better at romantic scene 5:00?
Lucifer used his American/Michael accent twice before: 1.) When Chloe was leaving to meet Malcolm and Lucifer pranked Chloe from another police car, threatening to shoot her with LAPD'S _"new bazooka"._ 2.) When they were investigating the murder of a surfer and Lucifer gave Chloe a very tiny bikini. I think the line was _"But, wait, there's more."_ On a side note: Chloe is almost always modestly dressed. What Maze refers to as _"granny panties Decker"._ Is that just Chloe's character or Lauren German herself? (It fits Chloe and I approve, regardless.)
@@butterw55 True, although he was mimicking Chloe’s drunken remarks. Equally funny is Chloe trying to mock Lucifer’s accent, usually when she’s a bit intoxicated. To be fair, yes the reason behind their differences could be just so the audience can tell them apart, but if you hated your sibling (especially your twin) so much that you're willing to ruin their life, I'm sure you'd do anything to be the opposite of them because you don't want to be like them.
This episode just gave me flashbacks to the Elena/katherine situation on Vampire Diaries. The moments between Damon and elena that SHOULD'VE been great were actually between Damon and Katherine.
@@knightfallprotocol well I did notice, i was approving, but I was referring to Elena alone as a character. She sucked in everything, not only the romance
Yeah the evil twin trope can be over done. I find if it's a show I'm really invested in it's best to just suspend my disbelief and accept it when it comes in though because there isn't any choice there. And in reality most identical twins CAN fool people and have played pranks and such and sometimes even cruelly so it's not like it's an impossible happening, unlike actual angels and demons and such (I mean if a god that was all powerful, all knowing, and supposedly all good actually existed, it couldn't also have allowed or created evil/badness and still be ALL good, nor could you say it wasn't responsible for any of the bad if it was the creator of ALL things. It's a contradiction religious people ignore and defend against but it's a face that can't be denied in reality. Ever read the bible? It's full of contradictions and immoral acts done in the name of the god of the bible who did things like demand entire swaths of people be murdered and children too and virgins be sexually enslaved, and it condones slavery all around telling you who you can own and how you can own them and never in any part of either version does it say not to own people, that's immoral af, and it's all now based on a human blood sacrifice - Jesus- as if killing someone innocent to rectify the bad things other people have done is in any way moral, just, or good. Spoiler - it's not. lol. I don't accept that falsehood anymore than I or anyone accepts that the ancient people who sacrificed people to mountain gods were doing good, right, justified acts either, even though they believed it just as much as Christians believe in the Jesus human sacrifice. Though again, can you call it a sacrifice is he zombified a few days later. lol). So if we can suspend our disbelief about supernatural things, I think its easy to do so about natural things like twins fooling people.
