Just got my first Legacy GT Turbo and while changing the oil is pretty straightforward on any car its good to know how to do it on certain vehicle models. Awesome walkthrough thanks for the info.
Useful info for a newbie owner of a 2007 Outback XT turbo. Couple of comments. With your frequency of oi changes every 1800 miles, I think you are not getting the value out of a 100 percent synthetic diesel engine oil designed to protect at a much greater service interval and the severe service of diesel engines that run a much greater engine compression. Mr. Subaru1387 gets by with a non synthetic grade engine oil at a more standard 3K mileage interval. When you run a multiviscosity 5W-40 oil, the viscosity is likely lower at ambient temps on a warm summer day, than when the oil is hot. So no need to warm up the engine before changing out a 0W or 5W multiviscosity engine oil. Letting it sit overnight means way more oil is in the pan and not sitting inside the head. Modern oil dispersants and detergent packs keeps particulates suspended unless captured by the filter media in the oil filter. DIY regular oil changes at a frequent and regular service interval is the number one way to keep your auto out of the shop.
The stress I put on my engine for 3000km is a lot more than the average person, which is why I change it that quickly. Mr. Subaru will have his opinions and so will I, he also lives in a much tamer climate than I do.
Usually whatever engine degrease or car was soap is on sale, and pressure wash it. I finish up with coating the whole engine bay with a vinyl cleaner like mothers.

Thanks for this upload. I'm considering this vehicle in the future. Also keep up the great work sir.
Thanks!
You should also pour a little oil into your filter and let it sit for a few minutes before you install it

Hey, What exhaust do you have? I have a 05 OXT, and have been looking for one but can't find many options.
Invidia Catless Downpipe, TurboXS non resonated mid pipe, JDM STi Genome Wagon Axle Backs
@Troy Burtwell sometimes if the wind is blowing and I have the windows down but very rarely
do you have to change the washer everytime?
Yes
I have a Subaru Legacy GT 2.5 2005
What type of oil do you recommend?same one as the video?
Yes.
You are supposed to use 5w 30 not 40
My oil filter is not located there
Where is yours
Does your car also have 2 oil filters? 1 on the bottom of the engine and the 2nd behind the driver side head light next to the battery
No I only have 1. Although my 2004 Subaru Outback 3.0 H6 has a 2nd oil filter behind the headlight that I think is for the transmission
The one behind the battery/driver's headlight area is the automatic transmission oil filter
What do you use to clean your engine Bay
