Sonic Adventure 2 is a 2001 platform game developed by Sonic Team USA and published by Sega. It was the final Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Dreamcast after Sega left the home console market. It features two good-vs-evil stories: Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails and Knuckles the Echidna attempt to save the world, while Shadow the Hedgehog, Doctor Eggman and Rouge the Bat attempt to conquer it. The stories are divided into three gameplay styles: fast-paced platforming for Sonic and Shadow, multi-directional shooting for Tails and Eggman, and action-exploration for Knuckles and Rouge.
Development began soon after the American release of Sonic Adventure in 1999 and lasted 18 months. The game was produced in commemoration of the Sonic series' tenth anniversary and was designed to be faster-paced and more action-oriented than the original. The development team also expanded upon the presence of the Chao creatures and other player characters. Its locations were influenced by American locations such as San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. Sega announced Sonic Adventure 2 in October 1999 and exhibited it at E3 2000. It was released worldwide on June 23, 2001.
Sonic Adventure 2 received generally positive reviews for its gameplay variety, visuals, and audio, though some criticized its camera, voice acting, and plot. An enhanced port for the GameCube, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, was released worldwide in 2002 with improved textures and multiplayer options. Together, the Dreamcast and GameCube sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. Sonic Adventure 2 was also released as a download for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows in 2012.

Wish i could say i had fond memories of it, as a kid my parents got me it for Christmas in 1999/2000 and while all my friends and kids at school waited and got the ps2 or gamecube i was playing crazy taxi jetset radio and sonic adventure till 2005 cause there was literally nothing else and boy was it depressing going to my friends or cousins and seeing them with all these games I could only dream of playing
Dreamcast & GameCube's audio sounds punchier so that alone wins me over.

Whoever was playing all of these versions made this game look like the controls are awful. For anyone watching who's never played this game, I can assure you it has amazing controls. The person playing is just abysmal 😂

Looks like input lag is screwing the player a bit. City escape also isn't as good of a first level as people give it credit for. It kind of reminds me of rayman 3 where you play 3/4 of the first level in a non-standard mode.

Yay finally! also Dreamcast is best because of the better lightning, better reflection and better shadows! (and some cutscenes look better on the dreamcast and not buggy)

@Francis the Dreamcast controller doesn’t have an analog stick it’s more a a d-pad as weird as it sounds
@@chibie3384 it does lol, it has one stick and a Dpad.
I still use mine everyday, as for the wonky stick, it's only like that in emulation, the physical console doesn't do that, least not for me.

Dreamcast: Sharper Texture, Better Lightning effects, better reflections, better shading, better shadows (especially if you look at the cars shadows) and some scenes look better on the dreamcast.
Gamecube: has more additional content, better multiplayer, but the graphics are tone down a little on the gamecube especially the textures, also smoother character models.
Pc, ps3 and xbox 360 version: support HD quality and better controls as well but in terms of graphics, its same as the gamecube.
I love the dreamcast version for its better visuals but the gamecube has more content and pc, ps3 and xbox 360 version supports HD but other than that, I prefer the dreamcast version more :)

I’m pretty sure chao garden alone may be better on the Dreamcast because of dark garden map being expansive but I would still say GameCube as it has chao karate and more rooms in chao kindergarten, which are black market and fortune teller room

Wanna know why the PS3 version is actually the best? Because you can play it in it's original aspect ratio of 4:3 on a CRT in native 480i with component cables. And it looks just slightly better than the 360 version.
In PAL regions, we actually had 16:10(Wide CRT).
4:3 looks so bad with its massive black borders.
NTSC has 4:3 since PAL is a higher resolution (576p PAL vs 480p NTSC)

It'hard to notice differences as they are subtle. But Dreamcast runs solid 60fps and don't look any worse. Actually at times it looks better than the rest. I tried recently XBOX 360 version only to notice it was inferior. But NGC -version is close, just missing some things from DC.
