There’s definitely Protestant churches like this though.
@@georgethompson3763I no longer ID as a Christian, but before I left the the only 3 things I had left to do in the Catholic Church was either become a nun, a lecturer, or a Eucharistic minister. I am also 100% African-American and it’s my dad’s who’s the Catholic of my parents and once a year we would take a road trip from New England to Memphis to visit his Catholic god-fearing mother fora week which meant attending his childhood church while there which was a Catholic one with an all Black/African-American congregation and the only thing I recognized from my Catholic Church by home in WASP-vile, USA was the color of the priest what went down during the non-music parts. Other than that, it was a Black church through and through. Like if it wasn’t for me being in ill-fitting church cloths in Memphis, TN in late August surrounded by people I didn’t know, structurally speaking, it would’ve been my favorite church service of the year since it combined my favorite thing about my mom’s Black baptist church back home, the music, with what I loved about my Catholic Church back home, the length and predictability of service.
Catholic, went to Church in Jamaica 2x with kids years ago. This is hilariously spot on. It was a great service! Can’t wait to go back.
