I think many of Ravel's piano work have imitated the sound of the harp which sounds like the texture of water. When I listen to La Valse, I always regard those flawless arpeggios as the harp section in the orchestra. This interpretation is quite natural and it makes me feel that the piece is originally composed for the harp rather than the piano.

This is the most incredible harp playing I have ever heard. I heard her live at the Israel Harp Contest. Her playing is out of this world.
