The sheriff in the PBS Mystery series: Cadfael (TV Series 1994-1998) was an interesting character. The Crusader-turned-Monk Cadfael works closely with his friend Deputy Sheriff (later Sheriff) Hugh Beringar of Maesbury in the north of the shire, often bending the Abbey rule to travel with or visit him. Beringar is Cadfael's main ally in the pursuit of justice. Beringar swore loyalty to King Stephen when he came of age. Although initially suspicious, the king soon came to trust Beringar and appointed him Deputy Sheriff, and finally Sheriff of Shropshire. At times, Beringar has to choose between loyalty to the Crown's justice and Cadfael's private view of the injustices of the world. In modern terms, Beringar has the combined role of military governor and police chief.
@@moxiepropertiesltd5686 Hi there, can I ask if you’re doing AQA, OCR or Edexcel? It only gets brief mentions in the Edexcel spec in relation to other topics, but I could still look into it.
@ I’m unlikely to get a video out before then. It is only a small part of the course- really its impact is as follows off the top of my head: *Migration: Homestead Act used by ex soldiers seeking a new life, and designed for westward expansion that strengthened the Union. The Civil War freed enslaved people, leading to the Exoduster movement. Conflict: The US Government lacked the resources to fight indigenous peoples on a large scale during the civil war, which explains the scale of the response to Little Crow’s war.
@ Not unless your teacher goes mad and makes one up! The events of the civil war are not on the spec, only SOME of its effects. The course is on the American West whereas most of the Civil War was focused on the South and East.

This is brilliant, are you planning on doing more lessons on the crime and punishment topic?
@@kimg7504 Yes, a whole series of rapid revision covering the whole topic, eventually! Should run to about 30 videos.
I know this is like a bit late but could you please make a civil war video for the American West Topic?

@@mrclokehistory Hey! Thanks for the prompt response, I appreciate it! My exam board is Edexcel, and I have mocks in 7 days ;-;

@@mrclokehistory Thank you! So just to confirm, there is NO chance I will get a narrative of the events of the civil war question?
