  • Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Luton on the Midland Main Line where services are seen by East Midlands Trains and Thameslink (brand of Govia Thameslink Railway).
Luton was a very busy station with a lot of trains stopping and a lot of stuff passing. The station is the other Luton station on the MML and it is just as good as Airport Parkway was. The station again has hourly EMT stoppers and has frequent 700s operating. The views towards Bedford are really good with nice curves similar to that of West Hampstead Thameslink and a good speed for passing stuff. The scenery is very mixed with a bit of vegetation surrounding the station here and there and a good backdrop of the busy town as well. Being close still to London Luton Airport, the station sees a lot of planes flying over it which you may hear as well! Overall, my opinion of the station is very positive, no real issues with the station, the views are a little restricted towards London and there can be periods where 700s just take over but that's not a bad thing. I enjoyed it here for sure and would recommend a visit!

Longest service from EMT, well now EMR, would be the St pancras to Scarborough on summer Saturdays

Great video! I liked seeing the Meridians at speed as well.
I think the answer to the video is London to Scarborough but those trains are quite rare
