    Its worth mentioning that the J20 is as big as it is because it needs all that internal fuel to conduct long range air patrols over the chinese coastline. The US has discovered that their F35s and F22s are too short ranged to be useful and would either need extensive use of highly vulnerable tankers, lots of external tanks that make them non-stealthy or put US carriers dangerously close to the chinese coast.
    This was why they were trying to develop the NGAD which due to the usual issues with the US MIC, has gotten cancelled for cost overruns.

    • @hentaioverwhelming
      @hentaioverwhelming 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The J-20 is also specialized for killing support aircraft like AWACS and air refuel tankers. The drone swarm mothership J-20, however, is going to rewrite how aerial warfare and combat air patrols are going to be handled.

    • @treyborn2931
      @treyborn2931 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The f-35 is thick and Short because it's vertical takeoff and landing capable the j20 has the radar cross-section of a school bus because of its size .no aircraft ,in combat,will have enough fuel. It will have to refuel at some point that’s modern air combat logistics 101. you can’t have air dominance without air logistics isn’t that the purpose of having stealth aircraft? The US has a fleet of about 500 refueling tankers. China has about 10. if you’re going to copy anything from the US, I suggest you copy it logistics doctrine it may not be pretty but it’s what wins

    • @daniely500
      @daniely500 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @treyborn2931 The US wants to project this air power to China & that logistics will be a nightmare. Knocking out an air tanker will be equivalent to knocking out many fighter planes.

    • @Amidat
      @Amidat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@treyborn2931 So why does the F35 have external fuel tanks then (which negate stealth) if they can just refuel all the time? You do realize refuel tankers can get shot down right? China doesn't need to copy anything from the US because China has a real defensive military - unlike the US "force projection" (aka imperialism).

    • @PhiloSurfer
      @PhiloSurfer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@treyborn2931 As to the issue of sufficient fuel - the main point is that if you are defensive and patrolling your coastline, it will be more than sufficient. And when involved in a dogfight, you can always return to land when out of fuel. If you are attacking, from carriers out of harm's way, you will be out of fuel soon after you arrive for action.

      Yes... On be half of Murica, Ihumbly apologize. To all my Chinese friends, being number one in thr world runs the risk of becoming an obsession. As we in the West weed out those elements that no longer serve us, as we become more insular, nationalistic and self focused, and as we ourselves realize where our open socierty, naivety, and adversely, our neuroticism has failed us, we hope to reengage the world on more realistic terms, with new understandings, new resolve, and a new attitude. One in which greed and capitlis5ic greed takes a back seat to national security, and pride. By virtue of our composition we will continue to innovate, but with a focus on securing IP and mass producing on our own. Finally, America has actual war experience. We've been fighting and waging war for the 35 years in some capacity or another. Enough experience in battle to know how it works in reality. If I were a warhawk bent on preserving US hegemony, I would go to war with China NOW, level her factories and set her industri capacity back a few decades. Dont wait untill she can effectively strike our interests around the world conventionally the way the US can strike hers now. Lets hope Trump has changed his view on Chyna.

      @@treyborn2931 TThe U.S. aircraft carrier during World War II was not nuclear-powered, but this did not prevent the U.S. aircraft carrier from sailing into Japanese waters.
      The operating range of an aircraft carrier does not depend on whether the aircraft carrier is nuclear-powered, but on the country's overall supply capabilities. This is why the United States has a large number of overseas military strongholds.
      In other words, what limits the range of operations of China's aircraft carrier is not because the aircraft carrier has no nuclear power, but because China has too few overseas military bases
      The U.S. aircraft carrier also needs to replenish a large amount of daily necessities and food, various ammunition, and aviation fuel. Without these supplies, the U.S. aircraft carrier is just a large toy.
      When the United States enters a war with a small country, the rate of material loss is not rapid. This weakness is not obvious. When a large-scale war breaks out with a big country, the combat materials of the aircraft carrier fleet will be rapidly depleted in large quantities. If the combat materials cannot be replenished in time, the fleet will lose combat capabilities. Will nuclear-powered aircraft carriers be different from conventional aircraft carriers by then?

    6:31 The F-35 was designed as a light multi-role fighter, it's size is one of the reasons why Switzerland bought 36 of them ( missing on your diagram at 3:06).
    Switzerland hides some of its fighters in hardened shelters, which are basically tunnels in mountains, and these installations can not accommodate much larger aircraft.
    In addition to that it is still war doctrine in Switzerland, to use certain parts of freeways as makeshift runways, and there is a size limitation to that as well.
    If "big" were always better most MIG's (Mikojan) airplanes would not exist, because the Sukhois are the big aerial supremacy aircraft, i.e. MIG-35 vs SU-35.
    Look at the F/A-18 and the F-5 Tiger II the Swiss air force has, they were chosen for their size.

    I mean, you could almost derive a template for a design type from existing models,
    And then programatically enter some parameters and generate the altered design
    - Longer but slimmer
    ~ Two engines, rather than one
    And by altering every single module according to space designated to that module, retrofit it with alternative Chinese designs and technology.
    I mean I am pretty sure the simulator technology (as in computer games) can then be used to test fly in various scenarios and conditions, so that the design can be enhanced, refined and completed. This is an cascading of the most excellent engineering principles together with ai. Nothing is gong to beat the Chinese in materials engineering and robotic automatic manufacturing.

    I want to respond to the technical remarks about the size and design choices.
    - the smaller single engine F35 still produces more power that the J35
    - the argument about the bigger airplane giving more space for electronic updates is just nonsense, with the massive progress in miniaturisation of the chips, stacking and chip packaging technology, this is hardly a concern, as well as the heat dissipation and cooling requirements. That is just fabricated nonsense. There is no need for a larger aircraft.
    Give more performance, fuel consumption, multi-role capability features, as well as, and especially the collaborative command and control capabilities of the aircraft.
    The so called very different, not so different features around the size and shape of the aircraft, namely the aero dynamic features takes many years to design, test, develop and test here. And that is clearly what was copied here.
    Let’s not rationalise that away here.

    China's AA missiles are Pretty GOOD. Cheaper and Equivalent in Performance than any US or Russian AA missiles. Plus with improved Radar and Target acquis ion system ........ Interesting .

    That is not the SU 37, its the T50, the prototype version of the SU 37 (which has a superior build quality, improved engines and is the production version)

    China has a huge manufacturing capacity on a large scale. This applies to defense weaponry, too, and it's very difficult for any other country on the planet to compete. I don't think America can.👍👍

    All China does is copy mainly America's designs, no way is the J35 nicer. China CANNOT come up with an original design of their own ? Laughable.
