Freddie was a musical anomaly. Thank God they had the foresight to film each and every live performance they gave, and in a hundred years they'll still be making new fans. 👑

I always say the same thing. Whoever's idea it was to start recording their live concerts for later release on film and audio was a genius and they have really left us with an absolute treasure trove of live musical performances to always be able to go back and watch the brilliance and talent of Freddie and of Queen as a whole.

"Who Wants to Live For Ever" was written by Brian May (Queen's lead guitarist) as part of the soundtrack that Queen wrote for the 1986 movie, "Highlander". "Highlander" is the story of an immortal Scottish swordsman, Connor MacLeod, who must confront the last of his immortal opponents, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize". Unfortunately, he falls in love with a non-immortal woman and though happy for a while must watch her age and die. This song was inspired by the scenes between Connor and his wife, Heather.

The man and his music! Whatever Freddie sings I feel something … everything 🥰😓 Happiness or Sadness Freddie makes you feel it… because he feels it. Freddie sings every song as if he wrote it I love Freddie Mercury 💛

Freddie and Queen were and are the “infinite” greatness to the music world. There will never be another band and lead singer as great.

Beautiful watching Freddie draw energy from the universe and the band is always right with him. I miss seeing them live with Freddie so much! His voice is haunting in this song.

You are absolutely correct. He really drew energy from the universe in each and every one of his performances. His voice channeled that energy so powerfully that one could only stand in awe. Out of this world ❤

This was written by Brian for the Highlander movie. Other Queen songs for this movie are: A Kind of Magic , Roger, Princes of the Universe, Freddie, One Year of Love, John, Gimme the Prize, Brian as the villian, and Don't Lose Your Head, Roger, also as the villian.
You were right about the premise, the story was about immortals who kill each other until there is just one who rules the Universe. The hero of the story watches his loved one grow old and die while he stays the same and questions in this song why he would want to live forever. Well done! Freddie's voice is so impactful in everything he sings, that no one compares. Please keep doing Queen. Thanks for sharing the music and your thoughts.

that's a whole lot of sound from one band (and no gimmicks) - and then there's Freddie who takes it to a whole other level of beauty. What a voice. Such range. Such talent.

Powerful and beautiful song. Freddie really belts it out and gives it depth. All of the Queen songs for this movie are wonderful. On the official video, Brian sings the beginning of the song, it is really nice, also. In the movie this song was written for, the main character is immortal and has had to watch everyone he loves age and die. He has met someone and is trying to decide if he wants to fall in love or not because he knows that she will also age and he will lose her as well.

There can be only 1 😊
Or just four fantastic individuals ❤
No stage was big enough for them, especially Freddie - he launches 🚀 himself across any stadium, country and ultimately our universe ❤

While Brian wrote this for the Highlander movie (and didn't know Freddie was sick) it takes on a whole new meaning with Freddie's passing in '91.

You must see Highlander to fully understdand the lyrics of the album A Kind Of Monster (except One Vision which is on Iron Eagle B.O).
They were asked to wrote one song for Highlander, but the movie inspired them so much they did almost a whole album!
Best Rock band ever (specialy live).
Freddy is forever number one in our ❤!

Thanks, DAME! (top TEN?.. I think you need to move him up .. lol) what an amazing performance.. notice Brian May on keys to start.. but then switches to fantastic guitar -- this entire band was fire .. including harmonies from Brian & especially Roger - HIGH ... singing while drumming... (p.s. Brian wrote the song for the "Highlander" movie).. I appreciate your reactions...

Part of the Highlander Movie Trilogy. Who Wants to Live Forever, One Year of Love, and It’s a Kind of Magic. All three are great songs. You will enjoy the other two.

This song is from the 1986 Highlander film soundtrack!! As others have mentioned, there are other tracks each Queen member wrote for the film. Here’s a link to the Highlander trailer, definitely worth a watch 🍿 th-cam.com/video/omOZyLmNMJs/w-d-xo.html

There is only one Freddie but Queen still exists and tour the world with sold out concerts. US this Fall and Japan next spring. They have a bassplayer, a
Percussionist and a keybordplayer all of Them singing too and of cause Roger on drums and Brian on guitar . They have had Adam Lambert as lead singer for the last decade. He is not Freddie and does not try to - but he Can sing the songs! You should definately listen to their version of this at theIsle of Wight Festival 2016 - the day after a mass shooting in a gay bar. Adam dedicated it to the victims who could have been his friends. It is breathtaking. Thank you for your reaction - you have a new subscriber .❤

    Really EXCELLENT reaction!
    SUGGESTION…
When you feel like listening to this song again, you should also watch THIS performance from:
    FRIDAY JULY 11, 1986
    At Wembley Stadium
(I specified the date cuz there are actually TWO consecutive back-to-back 1986 Queen Wembley concerts… Friday July 11 was the first night.)
Of the three performances of this song available on video, some Queen fans love the Friday July 11 rendition most became it’s…
RAW and powerful. (Budapest is the most perfect - Freddie’s vibrato! - but July 11 is “BLEEDING emotion”!😳
