Matt that is Papaya tree with fruits. The green fruits we use for cooking Filipino dishes.

Where you are standing on top of the lookout behind you is a brown dead grass area near the water (18:59), back in the 70s there used to be 3 or 4 apartment style complexes maybe 3 stories high. The Vietnamese refugees over maybe one thousand were housed there for a few months before they were brought to the US Mainland. They were so loud you could hear them while driving on Marine Corps Drive.

hi Matt.the red flowers are called Hibiscus. they are very common in Malaysia. they grow well in tropical countries. some news from the internet say that you can boil them and drink the water as a kind of tea that has nutritional value.

Also, in the Mariana islands the half flower is also known as island visine. On Guam we use as medicine to clear and re-wet dry eyes.

Brown tree snakes=Less birds=more bugs/butterflies. Im surprised to see a papaya tree there. Possibly seeded by bird droppings since nobody lives there. Thats how many plants, fruit trees and boonie peppers were seeded through the island when there were birds. They ate fruit and pooped out the seeds elsewhere.
Ahhh definitely and the typhoon actually spread a lot as well. But birds are big contributors in seed dispersal of course
