What I love about the vinyl record channels on you tube is, because of the exceptional sound I find myself listening to music outside my usual choices.
This piece for instance is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for giving me the chance to hear your music collection in all it's glory.

Beautiful recording. A must for patriotic english classical music lovers. As an expat it conjours up romantic images of the english countryside in misty morning....

A very pure sound indeed! Reminds me of listening in the back from the brass section🥲

I first heard this many years ago on WRTI, Temple University's radio station (Philadelphia, PA). It was late at night and by the end I had tears streaming down my cheeks. It is so awesome that a piece of music can do that to you. And I was a 6'5" house framer back then, not your typical classical geek I guess. Anyway, I had to know who this was so I sat there near the end with my paper and pencil at the ready because the great thing about classical radio (and WRTI now play jazz at night) is that they give you all the information to find the recording. I knew while I was listening that it was a woman playing the violin solo. Don't ask how or why, it just seemed right. And when the DJ said Iona Brown, well...vindicated! Much later I was at The Grand Opera House here in Wilmington, Delaware and they had a store so I went in. And there in the racks was this recording on the 1986 CD reissue! I had the info memorized so as soon as I saw the cover I knew it was the one. I turned it over and there was Iona Brown, violin. Bingo! I couldn't believe it. And I couldn't have been happier. It's a wonderful, dynamic recording. When it hits those low, quiet parts the tape hiss becomes evident especially if you happen to crank this up a bit. But I collect bootlegs so a little hiss is not an issue and this recording is nothing short of a treasure. Thank you for posting the vinyl version. I understand it's a limiting physical format compared to digital but I think we've found it also fits how we like to hear music. That super bright high end is not really a boon to many listeners. Which is why some people say they prefer the "warmth" of an LP. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece which I always find so affecting. I'm so glad others can stumble upon it like I did twice before.

V V Nice, compares with the DGramaphone version I have on FLAC which I use as a demo.
Seem to remember my Father liked Argo recordings next to Decca and DG.
Can't go wrong with RVW for demonstrating English music.

    Hello AUDIO PHIL.
I have seen your new videos with the SpartanMMPRO, and they are phenomenal. I am waiting to buy this phono preamp, but I have last minute doubts.
What should I buy MM or MC.
Please, in your opinion, which is better for sound quality.
I've seen you have a high output MC, how you compare it to a low output MC.
I personally want to go with MM, but I don't want to be wrong and now is the time for good decisions.
Can you help me with your opinion?
    Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Hi Rafael, I have both the MM Pro and the MC Pro as I have a mix of different cartridges. I think the answer to your question is linked to the cartridges you own or plan to own. I've not compared the Hana MH to the ML, I have heard the ML is supposed to be slightly better but cannot confirm this. Maybe I should try and get hold of one :-) There is a school of thought that you are better off buying a high quality MM than a lower priced MC and I can reason with that as you'd be getting a better stylus with the MM, and that's what really matters (in my opinion) - so I think on balance I'd lean towards the MM Pro as it gives the best of all worlds. You can experiment with high output MC carts like the Hana MH (which is superb, as you can hear) as well as a wide range of new and historic MM carts. Either way, have no doubts about the MM or MC Pro, they are absolutely superb.

@@AudioPhil1 Ohhh, how kind of you.
Thank you very much for enlightening me.
Yes, I'll go with MM. I only have MM capsules, but I didn't want to keep the doubt.
Your kindness and speed is greatly appreciated.
      Thanks and all the best.
      Raphael.
PS Just wanted to add that Michael from Classic Audio is a phenomenal guy, and very thoughtful. For some time I think that I will only support the humble Great geniuses.
