Thank you for putting this video out I did not know about a 500 Mile challenge until I saw this video. I'm going to start planning my route for this spring.
Congrats on your ride. I was just on I 79 in WV a couple weeks ago. Saturday I was on 33 in the Hocking Hills area, maybe I waved to you. Great riding where you were.
Congrats on your challange. I have wanted to do the same and someday maybe I will. I know you were quite tired after your ride. Glad you finished it safe and free. Yjat last 50 miles is the toughest for sure. Ride safe and free brother.
Congratulations on your ride. Having done the Iron Butt 1000 and 1500 I would not do them again. Always good to be home after a long day out enjoying the ride.
Congrats on completing the ride. not bragging at all, but a long long time ago when I was a lot younger I did 900 miles on a 1976 Gl1000. left home in upstate NY at 1AM down through Norfolk VA. and arrived a my brothers (Navy Sailor) place in Charleston S.C. at 9:30 that night. long day and sore butt. Took two days to return.
@@HarleyDayRider the first 12 hours were great but I was sure glad to get there and get off the seat. I doubt I could do it today, if I did I would need days to recover
HDR,you missed perfect riding weather by one day. I did 350 miles on Friday. Rts. 20,50,79,33,220 to Monterey Va. Rt. 250 back to 33,79 ........ back home on 2000 superglide. Beautiful colors, love Autumn riding. Ride safe.
Nice vid, I enjoyed it. The Solo Trips are nice. I did a "Solo Overnight Ride" and had a blast. Longest Solo ride was 500 miles in a day, 1200 miles in a weekend (Solo Overnight Trip).
Nice job, congrats on your longest solo ride ever! I love long day rides like that, I'll ride 300 miles one way just for a good burger & fries and then turn around and head home.
I took up your challenge, stepped off the bike 30 minutes ago after finishing 548 miles in 7.5 hours , Jarvis to Kingston Ontario and back. 45 degrees F , Hotwired heated suit and the Goldwing.
@@HarleyDayRider jack just notified me the Certificate and patch are on the way!! so how about we do the Iron Butt next summer together? International motovlog... jb...
I had the new GTS radio and was gonna use the new navigation system for the Sturgis ride this year and set each fuel stop as a “Destination” on accident. Only ONE destination and everything else along the way is a “Waypoint”. Learned my lesson with that one. Haha
So glad I'm not the only one with GPS issues. Great job! Glad to hear the Skivvies work! You even sounded tired at the end!! Cool challenge, I think I might like to try this one one day.....stay well!
Nice job. My longest solo ride was Americade to NC, about 700 miles in 14 hours, including an hour for dinner and a lot of rest area breaks toward the end because I was beat and it was night time in deer country. I'd like to try this one. I would write down all highways and directions on a sheet of paper and put it in a freezer sized zip lock bag and refer to it, and just use the GPS as a guide.
That is a great plan. I followed the map on the computer a few times to make sure it was in my brain. Maybe one day I will get a tank bag to put the map in so I can see it? Ride Safe
Thanks for sharing I do a 500 plus mile trip every month. About 300 miles is when I need my break lol just noticed wasn’t subscribe to you. Just did 🤦🏻♂️
I didnt do a solo trip but I did few 500 mile days when I went to the Grand Canyon from Alabama. They were rough but I found you have take breaks, drink a lot of water and pick a back road route and Have fun doing it. Glad you enjoyed it.
I did take a few breaks. But these challenges you ride mostly highways. When I vacation with Mrs. HDR we mostly stay on back roads. Thanks and Ride Safe
Three years back a buddy and I did the Iron Butt , Border 2 Border. I entered Sweet Grass Mont. 2-3 times It would not keep it as a ride. So I selscter Las Vegas harley shop just to have the map. Long story short, it kept telling me to turn around like on your video.
HDR, thanks for the ride along. I have done two Iron Butt 1000's and the long distance rides are really something else. It takes someone that just loves to be on the bike. Thanks again for sharing with us. See Ya Sunday.
Oh s**t ... I just bought a GPS for my upcoming trip, I hope it doesn't do that annoying crap. 😡 I've been watching tutorials on how to work with GPS's and get them to follow routes exactly as they are made... We'll see ... 3 cheers for completing the Challenge 🎉🎉🎉
I might give the 500 mile thing a try at some point. I’ve done 313 miles in a day recently and felt pretty good afterwards. Definitely don’t see an Iron Butt in my future...that’s just crazy.
Man, I wish I would have known about the challenge before Aug. I did 555 and 505 the 1st 2 days out to Sturgis. The 1st day was just under 12 hours(through Chicago) 2nd day was close to 10 hours
Great effort 👍👍👍🇦🇺
Thanks! Ride Safe

You’re in my country! I’m in Parkersburg, WV area. My son and his family recently moved from Barborsville to the Parkersburg area.
Sorry I rode through there pretty quick. Maybe next time. Ride Safe
Nice job, congrats on your longest solo ride ever! I love long day rides like that, I'll ride 300 miles one way just for a good burger & fries and then turn around and head home.
That sounds like a fun day. Thanks! Ride Safe
might as well become a chef
Longest solo ride was Sturgis from So. Cal last year. 1,291 miles. 500 in 12 hours sounds like a great ride. Ride safe
This was a lot of fun. Ride Safe
Congratulations on your achievement today HDR. 500 miles seems easy till you have to do it. Again congratulations stay safe !!😎👍
It is also always watching your time. When I hit rain it slows you down. Thanks. Ride Safe
Well done Jack :)

Rode to Charleston WV and up into Ohio, from north Carolina. Twice in the past 2 months
I might have passed you..lol
Very nice ride. Ride Safe
500 miles in 12 easy peasy.
New to me being solo. With Mrs. HDR on trips we do it all the time. Ride Safe
Huge congrats and thank you for taking us along. Enjoyed it all, now go rest.
Thanks! Ride Safe
Congratulations on completing this challenge. You accomplished something that you should be very proud of. Hope that you took a well-deserved break.
I was so proud of myself. I just enjoyed riding all day solo and running it at my own pace. Ride Safe
Thanks for sharing I do a 500 plus mile trip every month. About 300 miles is when I need my break lol just noticed wasn’t subscribe to you. Just did 🤦🏻♂️
Oh MAN thanks for subbing! That is a lot of miles you do also. Ride Safe
Great ride. Them harley GPS pre 2019 an very lacking. Hope the 2021 bikes are far better.
I am hoping for one with weather overlay? Ride Safe
@@HarleyDayRider that would be nice
Nice ride, well done! Bike sounds good. I wear padded cycling shorts under my jeans for a long ride, also works well. Cheers.
They do work well. Thanks. Ride Safe
Congratulations on this achievement. You accomplished something to be proud of. Hope that you took a well-deserved break.

Congrats . Glad you enjoyed the trip and ride, and a certificate to boot.
Good night 😆

I didn’t start my gps from the starting point. It was trying to get me to turn around. Once I skipped the way point it was fine. Ride Safe
HDR, thanks for the ride along. I have done two Iron Butt 1000's and the long distance rides are really something else. It takes someone that just loves to be on the bike. Thanks again for sharing with us. See Ya Sunday.
Thanks! It is hard just watching the time. Ride Safe
Thanks for the ride. That gps is definitely distracting. I haven’t really used mine but will keep your advice as far as waypoints in mind.
Once I figured that out it was good. Ride Safe
Would love to do.
Thanks! Ride Safe
You could easily do the 1K challenge - just double up on the padded skivies!
Good idea. But I like my sleep. Ride Safe
Nothing like an old school paper map.
You are correct. Thanks. Ride Safe
Saw no mention of witnesses. Going to do challenge and curious.
I had a witness sign before I left and one sign when I got home. Just not family members. Best of luck it is fun! Ride Safe
430 miles for a hamburger and fried pickles. You just can’t fix crazy.
Sounds like a great day! Ride Safe
Oh s**t ... I just bought a GPS for my upcoming trip, I hope it doesn't do that annoying crap. 😡 I've been watching tutorials on how to work with GPS's and get them to follow routes exactly as they are made... We'll see ...

Thanks and I figured it out. Ride Safe
You can do it. I did 648 in 11.5 hours 👍
Thanks thats a lot of riding also. Ride Safe
Congrats. I am starting to dislike Hd GPS. Its always make poor routes and yesterday put us in a bad situation down a gravel road
It will do that from time to time. Ride Safe
I might give the 500 mile thing a try at some point. I’ve done 313 miles in a day recently and felt pretty good afterwards. Definitely don’t see an Iron Butt in my future...that’s just crazy.
I think so also. Do the 500 makes you feel accomplished. Ride Safe
I don't think I have done that kind of distance in a day. At least not in the past couple of years. Around 600km a day the most, I think.
It was a nice challenge to complete. Ride Safe
Man, I wish I would have known about the challenge before Aug. I did 555 and 505 the 1st 2 days out to Sturgis. The 1st day was just under 12 hours(through Chicago) 2nd day was close to 10 hours
That would have qualified for sure. Next time. Ride Safe
thats why they put a mute button on the harley . Darn infotainment couldnt find a way out of a wet paper bag,
I had an extra way point programmed and it kept trying to go backwards. Other than that it worked fine the rest of the day. Ride Safe
500 is easy. On my trip out to the rockies I did several 500-550 mile rides per day.
We have rode together on trips this far but never solo and for a challenge. Ride Safe
