Best quartet ever
Lew DeWitt had the greatest tenor voice I was ever blessed to hear. Rest in peace dear Lew.
The Original Statler Brothers!❤
@cooter Thank you,I never knew this.
Just think of all younger people who didn’t grow up listening to legends like the Staler Brothers, they missed out on a time of great music. Today’s music will never measure up.
Sherri Cooley-Junk you mean.
Also, as i posted above, at 0:36, Wrigley Field getting lights was unheard-of when this song was new. It was recorded in 1981, and Wrigley Field has long since had night games.
That's why they changed it later to put a dome on Wrigley Field
These guys are the best, I will always listen to them, awesome group, happy songs
Absolutely beautiful performance 🙌 I have always loved that song
I'm guessing this was recorded before 1988. I know the studio version came out in '81. At 0:36, he sang "When the lights go on at Wrigley Field..." That finally happened on August 8, 1988 (8-8-88 in numerical form). Later versions said something about a DOME being put on Wrigley Field, acknowledging the aforementioned event.
Lew left the group in ‘81.
OK, thanks. I knew the group underwent numerous changes in personnel.
This is the original version of the song ❤
They were asked to perform the National Anthem at Wrigley Field for their first night game in 1988, but they couldn't because of a prior commitment.
And he rained that night!
