I belong to Sindhi Community and born in Karachi, to me Urdu is one of the most beautiful languages of the world and I believe Urdu speaking brothers and sisters are very civilized and energetic people except for few political black sheep which exist everywhere, and that they are as much Pakistani as any other community.

Makranis are more Local than any of us, they were living here long before someone even thought of Pakistan.... they still celebrate African culture day because they are originally from Zanzibar and other African countries... media cover this event and they are proud of it, i am also proud of them celebrating their culture even though i am not Makrani... there is nothing wrong in celebrating cultures... in Karachi, we cant celebrate individual cultures since there are a huge number of different ethnic groups... so celebrating the Muhajir culture day as a whole makes a lot of sense... otherwise there would be a Bihari culture day, then Bengali, then Dehli, Hyderabadi, Agra, Marathi, Gujrati.... list goes on....

you are muhajir by migration but by roots may be most of the people who migrated to pakistan were from different areas/regions of subcontinent so it means that they don't share the culture which i don't understand. Muhajir day yes i a for it we all pakistanis should remember the big migration held in 1947 to or afterward and how our fellow pakistanis left their everything behind and also millions of people sacrificed their lives so in that term i understand but rather using it as for whole like all muhajirs are from same ethnicity it's not obvious in this case. Like Memons they migrated also but memon is ethnicity as faras i know like they have their traditions language etc and from particuler region they migrated and not all the migrated people are memon. So by using just and identifing you as muhajir i think you are not aware of your original ethnicity. Ok you are remembring that Muhajir day you are like a community you faced many problems and prejudices like people calling hindustani urdu speaking etc, these things are not acceptable and to undermine these problems we should initiate such days to educate the coming generations but you should also remember from original culture your origins like many remember they were from Lacknow and their Urdu is totally different from other typical urdu speakers.
But in all of that most of the people i know their ancestors migrated till now their urdu is very good and distinguish from others. like me from punjabi background we have some accent or punjabi touch of accent in urdu may be because of merge of different languages but they people have beautiful urdu also they beautiful vocabulary thry use in respectful way is awesome.
You are from karachi so may be you can't relate to it but even in places like lahore punjabs hub parents discourage their children to not speak punjabi so they prefer english or urdu they mostly think punjabi is not respectful to speak even in my family i ahve seen this and also in private schools children got punished if they speak in punjabi and in schools even urdu is also not acceptable. i think it's not a problem of muhajirs the identity crisis is all over their in every ethnicity or group of people no matter who and where he/she belongs.
In lahore we don't have that narrative of muhajirs linked with mqm because here they have no presence the problems you are talking are limited to places where people of other ethnic groups have seen brutality of that particular ideology.

Sorry the word is wrong and wrongly adopted, we were never muhajir as muhajir means refugees we didn't come to Pakistan to take refuge but we created Pakistan and moved to our own creation with our partners who were already residing in this region. Sorry but neither us nor our grandparents were rufgess but they moved to a place they created, it's like you sold your home in one city and move to another with all your belongings , you won't be a refugee but someone who moved to thay area. This word needs to go !
My forefathers moved from aligarh and agra , and were business men in Karachi and Dhaka and then my grandfather was an alegarian who was deployed as director in KMC and was part of the planning and creation of North Nazimabad. But they were never refugees but moved for a better life.

Bhai aik waqt tha is mamlay oer bohat nafrat thee syasatdano kee waja say. Aam awam kabhe is jhagray may nahi parti. I'm muhajir and have friends of all communities and we r living more peacefully as Muslims as compared to india!

That migration at the time of independence of Pakistan wasn't one way but that was two ways migration, Hindus migrated from Pakistan to India and the Muslims migrated from India to Pakistan, because pre partition days were horrible for Muslims in the urban areas of Sind, as Muslims were living in near by goths and were not allowed in the municipality areas of Karachi and Hyderabad specially after sunset, otherwise if they were found in the city areas after sunset they were accused either as a Dacoit or a thief, only after independence and migration of Hindus to India and Muslims to newly created country Pakistan the locals got some respect.... کسی کے باپ کا احسان نہیں ھے مہاجرین پر، بلکہ الٹا انکا احسان ھے جنہوں نے تعلیم یافتہ ہونے کی وجہ سے اس ملک کو انتہائی مشکل حالات سے نکال کر کھڑا کیا ، بہر حال جو ہندو سندھ میں رہ گئے تھے وہ بیاجوں کے ذریعے دوبارہ دیہی سندھ میں حکومت کررہے ہیں اور اب انکا زور شہروں پر بڑھتا جا رہا ھے ،اپس میں مسلمان لڑتے رہیں، ہندو کے دوبارہ مزے ہیں
