I like sgc slabs, I just wish the hobby didn't devalue sgc over psa. But then again it works out in your favor if you just want to collect a nice card in good shape
They are starting to catch up on modern, I've seen some similar big auction sales of sgc that equal same grade of psa. Ebay seems to be the lower prices by heritage, pwcc, etc seem to get much more out of sgc
I've never questioned a grade I received from SGC and they are generally within a half grade of what I expect. PSA has gone the other way. The market will figure that out.
not a fan of the tuxedo but grading seems pretty solid and consistent, Sgc has a problem with cards shaking in the slab but Psa is worse with shaky cards, nice cards Mookie auto 👌
The few times I have gotten lower grades than I expected (I got two 8.5S out of 90 or so cards I have sent them) I found flaws I didn’t once the cards came back. One of them was top to bottom centering like your Trout, and the other had a surface ding I missed. I feel like they grade pretty fair and strict on centering. They tend to be a little lenient on vertical light print lines like you mentioned
Just goes to show you just how tough SGC is on grading. I have exactly one card graded by them that got a Gem Mint 10 grade. But even then I feel people would still be willing to pay a higher premium for a PSA 10 graded version of the exact same card even though there might be a stronger likelihood that it may be in a less pristine condition than the SGC 10.
@@zebraallday8332 if buy better you mean handing out high grades lol PSA is the standard and the most accurate. But if you want an SGC 10, send in your psa 7 and 8’s haha
I'm a fellow mookie collector. I have a question that I cannot find the answer too.. Why doesn't mookie sign more stuff, it seems like just his rookie stuff then he stopped?? any ideas?
Not cool that you get a card chipped directly from them. Their slabs ought to be more durable. I had a card come to me cracked (through an ebay seller though), so I need to resubmit that one.
You traded a Bellinger for the Lindor and say that neither one of you won that trade. I'd take Lindor all day, every day vs. Bellinger these days. Bellinger finished last year with -1.6 fWar and Lindor (with a terrible start last season) still ended with 3.1 fWar. You won that trade easily.

Very true. SGC vintage is pretty close to psa at this point though

I love that they don’t give the auto a grade unless it’s a 10. Some these kids struggle with a sharpie!

@@mjrsportscards that's pretty much backwards, you can send sgc 8s and 9s to psa cracked out and you can get 10s pretty easily.
