Great stuff.. Sad to hear he passed away.. :( He made them his own, nobody could play them quite like the man himself.. These are songs that will be sang in hundreds of years time.. How many artists can say that about their songs? Rest in peace, you no more have to long to see the boys of the old brigade, you are with them now. Rest in peace comrade, from Davey in Longford, Eire..
Even though I don't agree with the ideology and political views of the IRA during the 1970s and onwards, I love Irish rebel music. People were oppressed and these songs have genuine feeling and tell stories which bring up a lot of emotion.
i dont believe it . i was doing a job in a golf club and i met paddy i didnt know who he was . we were chatting most days .one day he told me who he was and that he wrote this song . at the the time i was nt sure if i believed him and now i know , either way he was a true gentleman
Fantastic!! What a find. As rare as the proverbial hen's teeth! A living legend indeed whose ballad writing is firmly ensconced in the annals of Irish Folk music. When was this recorded Miceal and that you for such a wonderful post
