Personally I think they are personal guards for Zant, similar to Royal Knights that are a higher rank compared to the regular knights of Hyrule.

Hey I would like to point out that the odd shadow beast also appears in another cutscene. Its the one when you enter gerudo desert for the first time.
They were supposed to be minibosses in the palace of twilight, possibly appearing before getting each Sol, but were replaced by Ghost Zant, and were only left in the cutscenes.
It's such a shame, i would have rather faced these multiple times over the Ghost Zant encounter😩 I appreciate the view by the way (:
@@ZelRando they could have added them in the gauntlet before the Zant boss fight where you go against many Shadow Beasts. Those two at the same time, and maybe more shadow beasts. They could keep reviving both the shadow beasts and each other and you have to defeat those two at the same time and the other shadow beasts. But they are much stronger and have more health.
Funny enough, my own headcanon is that those two Twilight Assassins were further empowered by Zant to become the Phantom Zants to guard the Sols.
I'm really glad the're not enemies in the game 'cause 6 year old me was terrified of them. During my first playthrough I was always wondering when they would appear and I would have to face them. For some reason my mind assumed that one of them was the guard to Zelda's room at the beginning of the game.

It would be great if a mod was made to fight these assassins, but more research must be done first and discussion on where they will be fought. A lot to be discussed as a matter of fact, health, damage, etc. Otherwise, it would be a fantastic challenge that adds lore to the twilight realm.
If they're tougher than the enemies in TP (those are too easy with my skill with video game), why not?
The shadow beasts are hands down the most badass looking enemies, and that music 😍

I think they might be an extinct kind of shadow beast. I mean, this cutscene happened a while ago. Lots can happen during that time!
Maybe those special type shadow beast could witch doctor or spell caster do to those their helmets and their capes indicates their intelligences but that’s honest guess from me lmao😅

The Twilight Assassin are seen as 2 so I think they would be as Zant Phantom protecting the light since after you steal the light ball a shadow beast appeared so the area is fitting

Honestly, I'm glad I found this video. I remember scratching my head as a 10/11yo kid and wondering why I couldn't find them in-game.
Dumb idea but do you think the two different Shadow Beasts could potentially be related to either Zelda or Midna?
Think about it, their heads are pointed as if they're wearing crowns, their masks are silver and based off of a mirror, maybe indicating a means of nobility or a way for Zant to determine them apart from normal subjects.
Besides that it is something Zant would do. He turned Midna into an imp so perhaps this was his way of further humiliating her as if to say your family/advisors are mine.
Alternatively there is a theory that says Zelda's family was killed and pushed Zelda into the leader of Hyrule. Those two could be Zelda's parents or maybe even one of her version of Impa. This would make Zant's ultimatum much darker. Ganondorf would also benifet from demoralizing Zelda since doing so would keep her more submisive and less likely to scheme until it was too late.
Interesting idea, they could be related to Midna in some sort of way giving the fact they were once Twili people!
I believe it is possible, that when Link was captured by a Shadow Beast in the beginning of the game, his (Triforce Of Courage) protected Link from turning into a Shadow Beast himself.
Well, he did turn into a shadow beast, but he maintained his pure heart. I still do believe this was the work of the triforce of courage, don't get me wrong.
Fighting against a Shadow Beast that can take away 1 heart with his attacks when you only have 3 hearts it's a nightmare, but when you find the same enemy with 10 hearts is a joke.
It would have been great if, as the game progressed, the Shadow Beasts were replaced for the more powerful Assassins to maintain the difficulty.
I'm sorry, "Tough"? These enemies are anything BUT tough! I beat the game on my first playthrough wondering when we were gonna get our first tough enemies!
