I drive in Canada, there's times that this type of things do happen. Were only human just like your mailman missing your address and putting it in someone's else's. Driving a bus isn't as easy as it looks, but we all do the best we can. Please don't get mad at the driver because you don't know the whole situation of what may or may not be happening. Bus stops can change and were not always told about the changes. This operator knows his stuff, keep it coming brother!
When I was a bus operator in Chicago it was easy to learn all the stops because most stops were every block, but when I was a bus operator in Memphis it was difficult because the bus stops were so far apart
I work the extra board as well where I am and so I can tell you, missing customers happens but you work routes where customers understand this so they help you by being proactive. Believe me, it’s a blessing when customers wear reflective clothes or have their cell phones flashlight function on. Customers understand that their bus driver has a lot on the plate and if they help you, they are always willing to do things you don’t expect. It’s true; knowing where the bus stops are does come with experience but it comes faster with observation.
Especially if you work the Extra Board like I do. You cover different routes everyday for operators that are out for whatever reason. It's also "our job" to quote the fare but lots of people still don't pay! You don't hear people complaining then. 😂 Have a good day brother, be safe.
People will wear all black and hide out in the shadows then jump out when u about to pass them. I get that all the time. We dont have nite vision people ya have to help us out a little also. Smart people at nite will lift their cell phones up so i can see them. That helps alot at night.
My thing is ...I know clothes company's make their different clothes for the different types of seasons ...AKA winner they have white clothes... summer they have green clothes ...fall they may have something brown or orange.... but that's the color of outside at those times...in the summer is green... in the winter time it snow so it's white.... in the fall there are the leaves falling... orange and brown all around you can't see these people... and what's with the camouflagem... you know camouflage is made for the purpose of someone NOT to see you right
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Once I have to cover a route that I done for 3 years and guess what? I missed the turns, and the other times I went into a "No through road." I learned from a passenger said to me at that time, "We're human, we make mistakes." I still remember till now.
As an Extra Board driver as well, we’re also able to pick weekly Hold Downs if someone is on vacation or out sick, and people don’t bother to think about all the construction that goes on. You’ll have people wanting to get off at a stop that has a clearly visible sign that say the stop is closed. I often tell them that there can be changes every day and you can’t expect drivers to know every route in the system. But in their mind we should know everything. They even get upset when you tell them that since Covid-19 started, that certain portions or entire routes had to be eliminated due to ridership issues.
It happens many time on Nassau County NICEBUS in Long Island, New York. Transdev which operates NICEBus always has new bus drivers. Transdev doesnt do any route training. Few september ago, I remember I was on N72 bus between Farmingdale and Hempstead along Conklin St in Farmingdale, female bus driver almost miss wheelchair passenger because trailer truck passing on right was blocking view of wheelchair man at bus shelter, so she had to slam on break. After truck pass, she pull to bus stop but she didn't know how to secure wheelchair.
I'm only a rider and I barely know all the stops on a few routes on my transit agency. I don't expect drivers to know everything. All I can expect from them is to get everyone to where they need to go safely and as quick as possible.
If you are going to wear dark clothing, catch the bus in the dark, And you stand like a stone behind a darn street post. Your darn write we won't see you..
I'm not a bus driver (would like to be in the future) and after school I'll go in random buses for 3-4 hours to learn the routes because I find it fun. Because I'm in a bus for hours a day I've witnessed drivers not seeing someone and stopping a little ahead of the stop and then the person yelling at them as to how they don't know the route yet. This annoys me so much because they expect someone to learn a route that might be their first time on BUT you also cause the bus to be late to other stops because of your tantrum which then causes more problems.
Nice video Keywan. The driver should have a rough idea but to memorise every single one can be difficult when they have other things to think about. Also if they drive multiple routes it makes it harder. Passengers should plan their journey and know when they are getting off. Of course if you’re a tourist or not local it’s different.
Hello, Kewan. Been a little while since I tuned in. Hope all is going well. In San Diego MTS the fastest way to find Routes, stops and transfer points is via their excellent PRONTO smart device app or their website. (I've even seen drivers (only while stopped) answering the passenger question via their smart phone.) Hope all is well.
I was the only passenger on one AC Transit bus, substituting for the VTA route 22 to Palo Alto. The operator ask me directions. I told the operator, I didn't know. But will an app called Transit, will show me VTA 22 route to Palo Alto Transit Center. I mentioned to the operator Transit app, acts like a route sheet. It shows your exact location the whole entire route, with turn by turns, with every stop along the route. Most operators from various Transit agencies in Northern California I've talked to never heard of it, it's pretty darn accurate compared to other Transit scheduling apps. It's too bad, not all transit agencies have Stop Requested that would verbally and visually announce the next stop next stop. The touch screen two-way communications for the operator to contact dispatch isn't up to date or, unavailable, with many Transit agencies, with today's technology if a operator is unfamiliar with a route.
@@BusDriverLife Transit app is simplifying the commute in 269 cities, 10 countries and 4 continents. Maryland MTA has some of their transit buses ad wrapped with the transit app shown on Google images. The other good thing about Transit app, you can see your leader or follower on your route . Or the bus in front of you and behind you in real time on the route.
It doesn’t help drivers when they don’t update where the bus stop on the map/paper they get. Because if they still list stops on there tracking map in a place where there was a bus stop but no longer there. I don’t think they sometimes update the bus stop on the info for the driver.
Drivers can't be expected to memorise every stop. Also here in Dublin there are some stops in the city centre which are only served by certain routes meaning not every stop is served by every route that passes it.
Congratulations..I’m not sure exactly what samtrans written test is like. Try to find a current driver out there and they will definitely know..even if you jump on a samtrans bus and ask the driver. Most drivers have no problem giving you some details about the job. I’m guessing it could be some basic skills like math and grammar and probably some customer service questions. Maybe even a video showing different scenarios and asking what would you do.
Yes but it would be dangerous for me to stare at the screen while driving and sometimes it is a delay before it changes. However it is a tool that I use when I can to help with stops and streets
Omg whoever sent that isn't a bus driver like bruh I remember u did a video on this and u specifically said if the driver is new or even experienced and there's a bus stop there not familiar with them that's not on them 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 like bruh seriously how can people know about someone else's job ik they they do the same thing with cops or even semi drivers like bruh if u have problems with someone else's job either get your own or take it up with the manager

All facts!! Lol. You have a good day too!
Ain’t that the truth
Bruh that extra board was a killer did that shit for 4 years
I can tell you here in Philly most transit stops are unmarked or have missing signs

It's the game of "What is it?" Person? Postal box? Garbage can? Utility box? Shopping cart? Graffiti on the shelter glass?

I apply for Samtrans and got accepted to do a written exam for two hours not sure what that entails hoping you might know
