Man, you don't even know how long I've searched the internet trying to find the name of this game on DOS that I used to play at home when I was like 7 years old. AND THANKS TO TH-cam, I finally found this gem!!! Man, this game brings back so many memories as a kid spending what seemed like hours upon hours playing this game. The soundtrack just flooded my memory banks with nostalgia overload... thank you for this upload! I just remember having a small amount of games on DOS, this being one of them... Also had TEST DRIVE, LODE RUNNER, PITFALL, WHERE IN THE WORLD IS CARMEN SAN DIEGO and I think it was called MATTERHORN SCREAMER...It was a game where you were Goofy and you had to climb up these snowy mountains and collect flags.
My god. I searched for this game for decades and never knew the name. It was the first game of my life (1986 - 6 years old). I played on my father´s MSX. It´s amazing. Thank you!
Thexder was my favorite game that I hated! LoL! It was so hard! But it was so cool looking! The enemy movements are so cheap, robotic, perfect! Great transforming animation to top it all off! (I had only seen level 4 before today... Flight not fight seems to be the key! I always tried to kill everything.) Thanks for this!
Yeah. Thexder is not about fighting enemies. Is about controlling resources. For real. Finishing the game is all about saving your energy and using your shield properly. The game requires no "dodging" skills or good reflexes, it's just about knowing where to get extra energy and using your energy wisely.
I had this game around 87 or 88, I was like 7 or 8. I played this on my Tandy 1000 with no hard drive. Played right of the floppy. This game was really hard and I Hated it but I played it a lot because I didn't have many options back then. Also had Ghostbusters, Mickey's Space Adventure, Donald Ducks Playground, Sargon, and a Game I think was Zork. Also had Windows 3.0 on a disk and of course DOS boot disk. I spent many hours typing random things into the command line to see what the computer would say... Mostly I got "bad command or file name"
Sweet memories.... played it in 1987-88 on a Tandy 1000 286/8MHz 320x200 with no HDD 🙂. Fantastic graphics and speed for its time, everything ran so smoothly, despite having so many animated items all around ! One major flaw though: it didn't have save/restore... so you played it until you died and then, back to level 1 ! was never able to make past the middle level (give or take) 😞
Made it to the exact same spot. I am unsure if I ever got past there but I think not. I remember that spot just being death lol mater what. Tandy 1000. Also loved Load Runner. Made tons of original levels. Also BATTLE CHESS!!
Glitchy on the old Apple 2GS. A great concept, but I always hated that all the enemies were spinning beams, electrified balls with nets over them, etc. Too much trouble to just have some other robots or vehicles?
GAWD this looks so much more playable than the Famicom port. In the Famicom version the homing lasers were replaced with tiny bullets that can easily miss the targets. Also the smaller enemies could gang up on you and kill you instantly, and all the enemies also take 5(!) or more of your dinky little bullets to kill.
NES version made by Square, MSX version made by Compile. Compile knew how to do action games properly, Square should have stayed doing RPGs :D (Truth to be told, the NES version was made a couple of years before Square made Final Fantasy)
It's true that I'm after the arcade game machine version of 'Thexder.' It shows the robot whose fight his enemies on desert grounds, then he he fights his enemies that are in outer space. I saw this video arcade game machine once, in the Soquel Drive Santa Cruz County CA. Supercade; back then in early 1985.
God, this takes me back 30 years back, still haunting me till today

You are the Thexder king!
Nice adventure game, and I love the Energy Hamburgers!
When I heard the soundtrack of this game, I remembered many faces of those I loved that no longer exist
Oh boy I have not played this in over 35 years.
This was a great game. I played it a lot and that also applies to its sequel Fire Hawk.

Same here except I really liked the game, though it was very hard indeed.
Played on the Tandy 1000EX. Such great and infuriating memories! Ha!
21:10 looks like a nod to Boulder Dash there.
💥💥💥 when i listen to this sound track i want to cry 😢,, so beautiful game.
Game Over = Moonlight Sonata
Thanks. My best record is Level 5.. I really wanted to see the ending of this game
goddamn never managed to pass the first level when I was a little kid :D
MSXは、初めて見たかも
これに関しては珍しくファミコンよりも数段上の移植ですね
面白そう!!

Why these old msx music feels sad, makes me wanna cry, or is it nostalgia 😞😞
Also available on PS3

Un gran juego, fue mi favorito en su día al igual que la saga turrican, verdaderamente tienen cierto parecido.
It is Robotech

How is he so good at this ??? Getting past level 4 was impossible
Lots of freetime and practice, that's how. Thank you for watching and commenting. :) I still need to learn to complete Thexder 2: Fire Hawk.

I finished this game on NEC and the game just put me back at Lvl 1
26:58 battleship yamato!
Game Arts has the best stuff
Was the shield auto? I don't remember using it.
You activate the shield by pressing Shift.
@@TheMSXChannel Well, that's kinda sad. I never used shield, so I played this in extra-hard mode.

Top 10 msx
Now do it without shields!

There was a game on msx 170 I think it's name was (no name) it is about a girl or something.could u put a video of it?
There's a lot of games with girls. I am not familiar with this game. I tried to look for it, but couldn't find it. I need more information.
천하무적 덱스터 울고 있는데
What was "ENMAX"?
Energy Max, I think? Manual doesn't specify. 500 is the maximum you can get.
이게임 정말 미친듯이 했었지.
Ностальгни-я-а-а-а-а!!!!!!
good game but controls/maneuvering was a pain in the ass, espec w the joystick
Try imagine playing it with keyboard
Use to play this games only with keyboard
@@radzelimohdramli4360 samr here before i got the joystick, I think the arrows controlled direction and spacebar was to fire?
@@mgoogleuser8011 numeric key for direction, space bar for shield n key X to fire if I'm still remember it correctly.
@@radzelimohdramli4360 Not on the MSX version.
For the MSX version you used arrow keys to control, spacebar for laser and shift or LGRAPH for shield.
What a shit game.
