Wife and I been to 5 Foo Fighters shows. They're so damn good. Grohl lost one best friend, Kurt Cobain and he just lost his other best friend to drugs. Depressing, don't know how he comes back again but if he does, we'll be there.

Doesn't matter who it is, everyone loves Dave Grohl. Kind of like everyone likes Keanu Reeves, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson. They are just down-to-earth, stand-up people, despite their fame and wealth.

A little nice story about this song! David Letterman when he had his heart attack and was stuck in the hospital Listened to this album and this song so much! A few years later when he was retiring, for his last show he had the Foo Fighters play and had them play this song at the end of the broadcast. He credits them and this song to keep him going after the heart attack and just told them he will always be greatful for it!

One of my favorite details I learned about this song later in life is that Dave approached this song (songwriting wise) as a drummer. He translated his time signatures with drums to guitar which explains some of the tones he achieves and the synchronization.
If you have a moment, Dave gives an explanation to the meaning of the song, complete with his life at that moment post Nirvana, with a live acoustic performance. In the striped down version you can really see his explanation in real time.

Dave Grohl is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. His musical inspiration on drums was the late great John Bonham of LZ.
The Foo Fighters were part of the Kennedy Center Honors performances in honor of Led Zeppelin. Also, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the Foo Fighters at Wembley where the band covered two Led Zeppelin songs. Dave frequently mentions Led Zeppelin in interviews.
Dave Grohl attended the Led Zeppelin Celebration Day O2 concert which was the first time they performed together in over 20+ years with John Bonham’s son Jason on the drums. This concert holds the record for most request for tickets with over 20M people worldwide tried to get seats.
Please react to Kashmir from the O2 concert as the older guys showed why they (Led Zeppelin) are one of the best bands ever.

This song live is amazing - the Wembley performance and also the one with Nandi Bushell on drums. If you want your heart to break a little, try "My Hero" by them live at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert where his 16 year old son plays his late father's drums... it is beautiful but bittersweet. Dave Grohl is considered one of the nicest guys in muisc!

Dave Grohl found our about Nandi during Covid because of the video you reacted to. Then they had a drum off back and forth. Too long for you to react but so heart-warming. You and your daughter would love it.

They put on a GREAT show. Love them. This is my sons favorite song. If you want to get smacked in the feels check out the tribute show for Tyler Hawkins ( the drummer who passed away). His 16 year old son Shane Hawkins playing the drums for the song My Hero.

Dave has a great memoir. Not gonna lie … I listened on audiobook. But worth it. Who is he inspired by? Name it. He is an encyclopedia of classic rock, metal, funk, Motown, disco, etc.

OK. I have been a Foo Fighters fan circa 1998. I was not really a Nirvana fan at all but I did listen to their popular songs on the radio. Dave Grohl (lead singer for Foo Fighters) was the drummer for Nirvana and after the passing of Cobain, from what I learned, Dave was offered a job to play drums for Tom Petty's band but he declined, for whatever personal reason he had. Dave formed his current band (which is awesome). Dave did also play the drums for, The Queens of the Stone Age song, "No one Knows" which was a great display of Dave's ability. Several years ago, the Foo Fighters performed, live, at the Acropolis in Greece, it was premiered on PBS, it is worth watching.

The blonde is drummer Taylor Hawkins(RIP). I always loved how even in a serious song, they always had such fun in their videos. This is a serious song juxtaposed by a funny video that is still a perfect fit somehow

"Promise not to stop when I say when." My interpretation of that is that one partner may be weaker and think they want to walk away. He is asking his partner to fight for him not to leave & let him know their love is worth fighting for
