    first things first the windows by ur desk at home are stunning 🤍 huge goals.
    loved this insight into consultancy. it would be great to hear more about it! it's always intrigued me as a career but i have no idea of the starting point and/or skills + experience needed to transition into it.

      I will make a consulting Q&A video to come! Let me know if you have any specific topics you are interested in me going more detail into/share experience in. I personally transitioned into consulting after an internship I did in college at Penn. I think regardless of your background, a lot of people are able to pivot into consulting. If you have problem solving skills, can think critically and logically under pressure, most people can transition into it. Taking some time to prep for case interviews is also something that would be helpful. Hope that helps for now!

    Loving your vlogs, Cathy! 😍🙌🏼 Hopefully post-pandemic NYC life is treating you well! I’m curious - and it may be a silly question - but why must (sorry!) slightly boring and predictable black be the colour for your job? You’ve got some gorgeous pinks and mauves etc in your wardrobe…is it some kind of uniform requirement? I did spy others in your office wearing different colours though… Black must feel brutal in the humidity. Otherwise, am enjoying your creativity and openness! 🥰

      Hey Helen! Thanks for the sweet message! And no, not by any means! I think also what we wear to the client vs what we wear to the office can also be different. Dress code also depends on your client and team. Most clients are very business casual these days with probably only a handful being super traditional where you would go neutrals (still no need for all black). Business casual you can definitely express yourself more so I do find myself wearing more toned down colors at the office. Hopefully that helps!

    Thanks Cathy. Question: for business school, what classes did you find helpful for consulting?

    • @cathydingg
      @cathydingg  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! I think it's actually kind of hard to connect classes quote on quote to consulting because consulting itself is not necessarily a skillset that can be taught in a class but generally I would say, good business acumen helps with case interviews and on the job so any sort of Management or Marketing 101 classes that may be case study focused may be helpful. Hard-skills wise- would stress so hard that taking a data analytics course if you school offers one is so important as that's a hugely sought after skill so any class that will involve (Alteryx, Tableau, SQL etc.). And lastly, any finance class that involves modeling would be a good one to take as that is also a sought after skill in consulting. Lastly, don't forget about soft skills- those are so important as well so any sort of organization behavioral courses where you learn about how people work, organizations work, communication styles etc. are also highly valuable!

    Hey Cathy, I came across your video and I have been interested in Consulting or doing something different. How hard is it to get a job working from home? I have a degree in Business Administration but currently a truck driver and really want to do something different. I would love working from a desk and also working on a variety of different things. I see a lot of TH-camrs who work from home and thought that would be really me. What Would a Bachelor's in Business Administration be suitable for getting into consulting? I have past experience in Management from Managing a Domino's Pizza to Property Management and thought maybe consulting would be something challenging yet offer a variety of tasks. Hope to hear from you soon.

    Your office is so cool! How long do you typically work in the evenings?

    • @cathydingg
      @cathydingg  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that is the tricky parts of consulting! It varies depending on what project you are on- I think for it ranges anywhere from 6 PM to 9 PM. Most of the time you end all meetings around 6 PM but sometimes depending on how much work you have, you can flexibly work into the evenings as needed. Hope that helps!

    Thanks for sharing your insight
    I’m interested in evaluating how I can transfer or learn more about this field. Is it necessary to go to business school to work in consulting or even transfers? I really like the opportunity work in a business setting - I’d be coming from the paralegal space. What was it like going to business school? So

    • @cathydingg
      @cathydingg  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! Thanks for watching! I would say it's not necessary to go to business school to pursue a career in consulting. I think the mot important part consulting firms look for is your ability to thing strategically and in a logical and structured way. I would say it may still be beneficial to study up on how some general business industries work for case interviews to have general business acumen. It may be also helpful in your current situation to look for parts of your job that can highlight that "problem solving" skill many firms look for. Hope that helps!

    Hi Cathy,
    What’s your advice for someone thinking about transitioning to consulting? I have a personal finance degree and am thinking about management consulting. Tips on breaking into that, things I can be doing now to gain the necessary skills? Thanks!

    • @cathydingg
      @cathydingg  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey there! I think consulting is definitely one of those industries where you can break into without necessarily direct experience. I think helpful things to ramp up on is data analytics skills is always hot on the market these days or at least an understanding of data analytics tools is vastly valuable (alteryx, SQL, Tableau etc.). Other than that, for interviewing, I would look into resources that can help you learn how to handle a case interview. In general, working on how your structure your logic/thoughts when you approach a business problem is a good skill to hone when trying to break into consulting. Hopefully that helps!
