      Russia didn't first try to convince the UN. They just unilaterally declared war.
      Saddam was a dictator. Zelensky isn't. This is actually worse for Iraq, as removing a dictator creates a power vacuum and we all saw how bad it ended with Iraq. In Ukraine, the people are all behind their country and are willing to die fighting. In Iraq, many people were happy with Saddam removed, but they didn't get anything better in return.

    Countless dead Iraqis who did nothing wrong other than defend their country against an invading force who's mission would never be completed because the target didnt exist. But we sure did shoot and bomb every Iraqi who defended their country. Colin Powell really couldve come out and expressed some sort of grief like a human. But no.

    What was the reason of US behind that war?? Saddham and Ghadaffi had started to settle their oil with Euro, no longer with US-Dollar. Saddham had proposed to the other menbers of OPEC to follow him. I don´t remember the details. If they had followed him this had been a catastrophe for the US, probably a collaps of the american imperium, and in consequences the collaps of world economy. I don´t know many facts, the issue is very, very complicated. The US survived with their gigantic national dept thanks to the US Dollar as the leading currency in the international oil bussiness. At the end of 2022 the US national dept including all states was some 3.500 billion = 3.500.000.000.000 US$. There were NO weapons in Iraq. Saddham was a murderer, there is no doubt, but that was never a problem for the US as long as Saddham did sell "his" oil for the Petro Dollar. Colin Powell speach was a misleading lie.

    • @TimHerk
      @TimHerk ปีที่แล้ว

      No way. The reason was much simpler than that. We wanted control of the oil fields. We would not have had to go to war to prevent Libya or Iraq from changing currency preferences. Sanctions would have done fine.
