But i do want to add something, ive failed innumerable interviews and i've spiralled into self doubt. In a interview i think the content matters much less then your confidence and temperament. Just smile, be friendly and be honest. This interview won't be the last. Believe in your hardwork.If you truly believe that not getting this position will not be the worst thing to happen to you, you'll stay calm and perform better. God does have a plan for you that you can't see, everyone has their own time clock. Best of Luck!
Thank you for the video It has been useful however I just wanted to add teaching assistants in the Uk usually support a child with SEND so it is important to focus your answers on the important of inclusion and to prevent discrimination. Also safeguarding is extremely important to include in your interview to ensure you know what to do if a child discloses information to you or if you notice a concern. Thank you again.
This is really useful but after listening there is strong acknowledgement to supporting the teacher but the role usually is heavily about supporting students, in person centred planning and differential lesson plans to flexibly meet the differences in each individual. I’m going to an interview tomorrow for a lunchtime supervisor position at an infants academy - although it’s a very different role to becoming a teaching assistant I would hope that one day I can train to become one and that this is my opening! I also had an experience of giving an interview for the position of a lunchtime controller and I was surprised to be asked questions as if. I’m applying for a teaching assistant but as I did my level two teaching assistant few years back , I answered appropriately and got selected later 😊
For the tell me about yourself question, don’t they want you to tell them about your past experience in that position? That first example is loaded & sounds a bit desperate answering multiple questions in one..
I don't agree it sounds desperate at all. Obviously you can answer the questions how you see fit, but my advice is to use positive keywords and phrases. You could include details of past experiences in that role, yes.

I am so glad I found this! I have always wanted to be a TA since I was very young..... I am "qualified" with a degree of TA but no one is interested when I have applied over the years but I have been offered an interview as a TA and also Lunch supervisor next week so I am working so hard to get this job because it has always been my dream and when I watched everyone's comments it has made me feel more confident especially since so many people were offered their jobs from after watching this so just thank you :)
Watched the video last night, Downloaded the full list of questions afterwards. Re watched the the video at lunchtime had interview at 3.30 and for the 1st time ever I nailed it. I got the job. I work in SEN so for those asking there are a lot of similarities in the roles and some of the questions and answers were very relevant.
And if TA is doing all this job what does the teacher do? I am asking out of pure curiosity as I used to teach students but not in the West(Europe or America) and that’s all the things regular teacher would do for or during the lesson where no TAs are provided at all
I didn't do this because i just wanted to, i just realised that i am a teacher(assistent). it isn't even my branche, I'm an i.t. guy but I just love to bring that practical knowledge over to people and get them curious about the subject at hand, because that's when passion really starts to grow. *that got me in, at least that's what my supervisor said.

I'm mostly passionate about teaching children about life and skills so that they can become their best selves, rather than being passionate about education. I would rather just be myself, smile, be confident but not too confident, and just be honest with them about my experiences and why I want the job. I’m going to an interview tomorrow for a lunchtime supervisor position at an infants academy - although it’s a very different role to becoming a teaching assistant I would hope that one day I can train to become one and that this is my opening! I also had an experience of giving an interview for the position of a lunchtime controller and I was surprised to be asked questions as if. I’m applying for a teaching assistant but as I did my level two teaching assistant few years back , I answered appropriately and got selected later 😊

For the tell me about yourself question, don’t they want you to tell them about your past experience in that position? That first example is loaded & sounds a bit desperate answering multiple questions in one..
I don't agree it sounds desperate at all. Obviously you can answer the questions how you see fit, but my advice is to use positive keywords and phrases. You could include details of past experiences in that role, yes.

Hi Richard & team, I would like to say thank you for posting this video! I agree with every point but didn’t quite know how to articulate it as well as you have done. I watched the video, made notes and was lucky enough to be offered a teaching assistant job at an amazing school! So thank you very much! I would additionally encourage people watching this video to make sure they have a good knowledge of safe guarding and different scenarios and how you would deal with them that could be given in the interviews! I am so glad I found this! I have always wanted to be a TA since I was very young..... I am "qualified" with a degree of TA but no one is interested when I have applied over the years but I have been offered an interview as a TA and also Lunch supervisor next week so I am working so hard to get this job because it has always been my dream and when I watched everyone's comments it has made me feel more confident especially since so many people were offered their jobs from after watching this so just thank you :)

Watched the video last night, Downloaded the full list of questions afterwards. Re watched the the video at lunchtime had interview at 3.30 and for the 1st time ever I nailed it. I got the job. I work in SEN so for those asking there are a lot of similarities in the roles and some of the questions and answers were very relevant.

And if TA is doing all this job what does the teacher do? I am asking out of pure curiosity as I used to teach students but not in the West(Europe or America) and that’s all the things regular teacher would do for or during the lesson where no TAs are provided at all
Sometimes the TA will take groups of children from the class to teach and it shows they are capable of doing that :)
I didn't do this because i just wanted to, i just realised that i am a teacher(assistent).
it isn't even my branche, I'm an i.t. guy but I just love to bring that practical knowledge over to people and get them curious about the subject at hand, because that's when passion really starts to grow.
*that got me in, at least that's what my supervisor said.

@@CareerVidz for ten years I cared for my father. I did work a bit when I had breaks. I also have always been split between two countries. Both look very bad on a CV
@@99fenton I don't personally think that's bad and if you cared for your father that is a good thing in my book! I would just be honest and say why. I am sure you will be OK :)
@@CareerVidz a few interviewrs and agency people rmarked that; "yeah, technically its a job'..and "what were you doing during taht tie? we cant have any gaps" - ie; they dont see it as a job
