This video was worth it for the "turns your hands into gimbals" part alone. REALLY great video. I've been sniffing around this camera a little bit. I see what you like about it.
Great video sir ! Totally agree w/ you about the Lumix Lab App / LUTS.. Not only is it a GAME-CHANGER and I think every major camera company will copy it and how it works, but Lumix Lab has been a WORK-FLOW changer ! I do NO post / editing whatsoever. Saves so much time. S9 has been one of thee most fun cameras I've used in a LONG time. It's punching well above expectations.
I just need to know one thing before I buy this camera. Can you shoot in Vlog for max dynamic range and then apply a rec709 lut and then another stylized lut baked in? Essentially removing the need for post processing with a computer.
That’s true but you can assign the custom button to lock all buttons like with the S5ii. I’ve just been making sure I’m careful not to spin the dial cuz it’s set to my shutter angle at the moment 😅
… I’ve always wanted to have a TH-cam channel and I’m also kinda interested in photography (I’m a sucker for colourful image composition) and filming with a proper camera that has manual focus and works in low light conditions… I’m not really interested in recording with other people I’d probably just mostly record myself doing suff and edit it together… do you think this camera would be good for this?
The camera looks very good, bur the price and variety of the lens… this is great downside 🙁 I wanted to buy the S9 some time ago, but a wide lens is so big and expensive… comparing it to the Sony lens options. I am thinking of going with Fujifilm x-s20, aspc, but it has open gate and a wide and affordable lens options. Dunno, it is hard to find the perfevt camera on a budget 😅
There’s the 18mm f1.8 which is a great option for a smaller wide angle lens. It’s what I use :) but I understand if you’re on a budget it’s harder to decide. I’d take a look at a used S5ii! Though I do love LUMIX so perhaps other brands may offer something you’re after? Lumix does have amazing autofocus though compared to what I’ve heard about Fuji
This camera reminds me of when Apple removed all the ports in their macbooks and said, just use a dongle for everything! Who needs ports?! lol! They should have priced it at 1200/1299 ish. 1500 is too close to the s5ii and even the zve-1, for way too many drawbacks. I imagine all of these drawbacks would be a lot easier to stomach if it were priced more reasonably, especially in comparison to the competition. I can see alot of the pros you suggested being a fun work flow possibly, but at the end of the day it's such a niche audience this was made for, that I at least hope they make a mkii version for people that actually use cameras lol! With a mechanical shutter and a hot shoe.... That's honestly all it really needs. And those two basic things also make not having a viewfinder an easier pill to swallow. Otherwise, if I already had the s5ii and had that kind of extra bread, I would probably pick this up to go along with it. In the meantime, the Fuji X100VI remains the better all in one edc option that is reasonably portable. I really pray someone makes a full frame X100VI soon. Iv'e been using aps-c for long enough, and I'm ready to go back to full frame for better quality shots.
I was lucky enough to get one at a discount (from a local place, not from Lumix) so i paid around £1300 which was easier to stomach haha. I do agree. Lumix did this to themselves by making the s5ii 2000. If they made it 2500 then a 1500 s9 wouldn’t be so wild.
Workflow beats specs in the real world for 90% of creative purposes.. People comparing this to other, much bigger cameras are missing the point. The people who will buy this are not considering those options in the first place.
I am considering this camera as I do a lot of anamorphic stuff. If we are all being honest, this camera is okay. The only thing I will say that Lumix stuffed up with, is no hot shoe. This is a complete fail!!!! A photo camera that can't take a photo indoors? No flash??? This is a complete loss to me??? But then I only want it for video. (The time limit has been removed, yeah!)
It’s a great camera honestly. If you’re only doing video then the lack of hotshot really doesn’t matter. But if it does, the S5ii is perfect. I’ve never been inconvenienced by the ‘short comings’ of the S9 for any of my work - photo or video.
For video it seems as nice option. For photos no. How do you feel about lumix lenses on such a small body. The s primes are small on S5II body, tiny on S1H but on the S9 even those seem large-ish, how about 24-70 f2.8 😐that is a chonker
Oh yeah definitely a great video camera and it’s fine for photo during the day 😂. I personally don’t mind I get it the lenses are big on such a small body but I don’t mind it too much 🤷🏻♂️ I’m excited to put some oversized lenses on this thing 😂
@@ReiDoesIt This is a camera you need to use to fall in love with, I have my S9 with super fast, vintage, FD lenses. This a camera that makes people focus on the cons but once you play with it and experience the faster workflow on a nimble setup. Chef Kiss
@@lfcruzsierra I'm totally down for it. Technically only thing from theoretical downside is the lack of shutter. I've got the S5IIx and the readout speed is not great, so for photography I see lack of that + EVF. Do you use it primarily for photos or videos?
Best S9 Video I have found to be helpful, lol. So much drama with professionals on this camera here on TH-cam...
Thanks so much!! 😊 yeah there’s been so much drama around this camera it’s silly haha
The S9 has had the recording limits removed with the latest firmware. Unlimited recording times! Great video!
Thanks so much! And yes I’m so excited about that! I’m going to make a full review video soon 🤩
Agree. New subs due to this new video
Thank you ☺️

Hahaha glad you liked that part! It made me laugh every time I edited it 😂 the S9 is honestly a great camera. Maybe rent it and give it a try ☺️

Oh yeah, SUBSCRIBED !
100% agree! And thanks for the sub 😁😁
Great video. Best value for time camera. I spend less time editing on computer.
Thank you! Yes I totally agree it’s a huge time saver 😊
I was subbed and liked at gimbal hands LOL
Haha happy you enjoyed! :)

Yes you can 👌🏻
The only thing that gives me a slight concern about the S9 is the rear wheel that numerous reviews say is easy to nock your setting on.

btw - I heard there is no more record limit with latest updates if you disble it...
That’s correct! I still need to update my camera but once I do this weekend I’ll make a video about the new changes 😊

U can buy Leica Q3, it full frame and better than 100vi for shure!

@@Markchristiankc how about vintage lens? Like FD or MD with adapter. I bet that would fit the character. Great video as always man! 🤘
@ReiDoesIt oh yeah I bet that’d work so well! I’ll have to try out a vintage lens soon. And thanks so much!! ☺️☺️

all good but the af kinda mess
I forgot to set face and eye priority so it kept picking up my hands 🫠
My name is Jeff 🤓
Big love MAH NEM JEFF
You’re drifting in and out of focus
I had the wrong settings on 😅now I always have face and eye priority on lol
Sorry to rant ! This isnt weather sealed. Its disappointed with this expected price.
its an entry level full frame camera.. if you hate it so much, the S5II is literally right there
This Cam is nothing to compare with the gx9 or gm5 .the gx9 and GM 5 have all Specs that are missing in the s9.That is failure camera
Agree to disagree ☺️ but perhaps those are better options for you. I think the S9 is an awesome video camera
is the gx9 or gm5 a full frame? thats one spec I wanted.
@PPLRRN they’re both micro four thirds
@@Markchristiankc they they are failures for me too
Honestly the S9 is still a great choice I’m really enjoying using it
What an interesting video I think I need to get one for travelling and to start up my TH-cam again
100% but you can borrow mine whenever ❤️
