    I’ve found that this guy is a MAGNET for removal.. adding in at least 6 ways to protect your Commander / Board is super necessary. The guy draws you so many cards whilst he’s out that if you can survive removal and make him stick, then you’ll always have a full grip and hit a land drop every turn. Why run sub par card draw like a midnight reaper or a moldervine reclamation, when you can just run protection for your Commander who is a better card draw engine? 😊
    Both boots, Darksteel plate, the new LOTR Mithril Coat, Sylvan Safekeeper if you have one, Heroic Intervention, Golgari Charm, Wrap in Vigor, Tamiyo’s Safekeeping, Tyvar’s Stand, Ashnods Intervention.. just to name a few 😅 a few of these will guarantee he can stick around and keep you with a full grip and a crazy land count to ensure you have the mana to make some huge plays on your turns!

      Yes which is why this deck has been taken apart and is now a Prosh deck with a Korvold in the 99 lol decided not to be the target every game since this was a build I wanted to enjoy playing. Most of the cards are cards I want to play and I don't want to cut them just to add protection for Korvold. But yes you are absolutely right.

      Great points. I’m building one now and I definitely have 10 pieces of protection because I have seen it get hated out

    Love it… making upgrades to mine at the moment, going down the treasures route too because it’s just too strong.
    Scapeshift with Field of the Dead in this deck is backbreaking… as is Sylvan Safekeeper with a Land-Ramp Package. I like the 3 mana land ramp spells like Harrow, Roiling Regrowth and Springbloom Druid. 2 mana ramp is efficient.. so run some of that too, especially the good ones like Three Visits. But 3 mana ramp is right on curve to cast the Commander: Turn 3 play Harrow, net +1 land to 4, untap on turn 4, play a Land for turn and Cast Korvold. Late game they’re not as bad to draw as a Rampant Growth because they have good synergy with your Commander.

      @nelsikegaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree I need to add more ramp lol probably why it hasn't performed the way I want it to

      @@nelsikegaming Oh really? What is it about the games that makes you think it’s not working?
      I feel like ramp in this deck in particular is just pure gas.. it can almost be played as a Landfall deck with a subtheme of whatever interests you (creature sac, treasures, artifact recursion, pure landfall etc). If you run a high land count with like 12 ramp sources then you’ll guarantee your land drops and guarantee you can cast your Commander AND have a permanent to sac that you’re happy to sac.. add in a few creatures for Land recursion like Ramunap Excavator and World Shaper and you can hopefully have a consistent game 😊

    I’m a Korvold player myself and I have a question to ask in Ernest.
    I started building it and just made it better and better and better till it was something like a budget cedh deck. By budget I mean sub $1k.
    I never meant it to not be strong I was simply limited by lack of knowledge and the $$$.
    Now it’s a fully optimized cedh deck. It became to fast for foodchain (really that’s just an A+B combo and the cards are pretty dead outside the win turn so I replaced w dual caster twin flame which have more utility in the deck generally.
    My question is this; “why do you, and lots of people, build decks that are strong but not quite cedh strong?”
    Are you building towards a leaner more efficient deck just not there yet? Are you not aware of some of the budget friendlier combos like breach + grinding statin w a mana positive rock like lotus petal or sol ring? Or stitchers supplier + culling the weak w breach?
    Dual caster twin flame? Dockside plus sac outlet like .. I mean there are tons. You could have this deck winning turn 4 consistently w a back up grind plan w/out breaking the bank.
    Do you not know these things or are you intentionally not making the deck as good as you might?
    No shade here just an honest question.
    I play w a friend group who never meant to not play cedh we just didn’t always know how and there is an expense (though not necessarily as bad as you may think)
    Namaste my man 🖖

      Hi!!! Great question. I personally limit myself. I don't play CEDH and none of my friends do either. I actually took this deck apart recently because people would assume it's CEDH and target me immediately which makes sense.
      I like my games to last 8-9 turns maybe even 10-11 in some cases. EDH is supposed to be a casual format and there are many ways to build and play. If I wanted to optimize this deck to the fullest it would feel and play like every other Korvold CEDH deck. I wouldn't have any wiggle room for "pet cards" or interactions I may like in jund. I would also have to proxy since my expensive mana rocks/lands are scattered across 23 decks 😂 When it comes to deckbuilding I believe holding back sparks creativity. Winning turn 3-4 consistently only seems fun if the people I'm playing with are also trying to win by then.

    I’d say this is a 7-8 power level. Token generation is fantastic but it looks too slow to me. My Korvold deck was my first deck and is my baby but I’d only say mine is a 9 with 9 tutors, the dual lands, powerful mana rocks and is the best I believe I can make it.

    • @nelsikegaming
      @nelsikegaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use a website that spits out a power level number and it's not accurate most of the time. I do agree with you though.
