Dusting off my bikes now, after hanging them up 10 years ago. I just wanna ride again. What an epic, beautifully created film. Those guys and lasses remind me of what it was to be young.
I'm from California. My boyfriend and I just drove to Texas along I40 last week to Texas to see his kids. I can't even imagine riding that. I was moved to tears driving a good part of Route 66. I guess as an American that I take for granted how amazing my country is. I LOVED watching it from an outsider's perspective. Thank you for the gratitude. Hugs and love and hope you all are still riding!
You have an amazing country. I'm from UK, I rented a campervan and did a 3 week trip through colorado utah arizona and new Mexico. Genuinely the most breathtaking and diverse scenery I have ever been through.
I really enjoyed this!!! What a great adventure along a truly iconic route. The cinematography was outstanding. Kudos to everyone in creating this extraordinary journey. I particularly liked the fact that all the cyclists were not completely "rapha'd" out! Of course, it is a Rapha production, and surely wearing some Rapha kit is a given. However, the mixing and matching between Pieces in the Rapha collection and "ordinary or civilian" wear was refreshing and welcoming to see. It made the characters and the overall vibe of the film more enjoyable and approachable. More real and, therefore, potentially more inspiring for a wide range of cyclists. It is an ethos that Sami was talking about towards the end of the film- where it's about riding and wearing what you have....Just ride! I think sometimes people see cyclists or encouner other cyclists in the road and get snubbed because a person is not kitted up to the nines, particularly, in a kit that is so name recognized like Rapha. For sure, there is a time and a place to wear performance enhancing kit and, Rapha is not to blame for the snobbery of certain cyclists and their misunderstanding if what it is to just go for a spin. That is why the apparel choices of the riders was so cool and possibly eye-opening to a larger audience that the kit doesn't make the rider, the ride or experience makes it! Job well done! #everyrideisepic
Thanks Guys and gal. We’ve travelled the mother road by mustang, SUV etc. Absolutely love it like you guys did. The people, the beauty, the nostalgia. Thanks for taking me back😊 I’m 72 so no doubt won’t get back, but the memories will never leave me. Another pair of Aussies 😊🇦🇺
It sure looked fully supported to me. I think every cyclist can agree we would all love a fully supported and sponsored ride across route 66. Probably an experence of a life time, Chapeau
Fun film. Honest question, though - what’s up with riding without a helmet? I feel naked without mine (and at least 3 have saved my noggin over the years). You do you, I’m just confused why anyone would risk a TBI. It’s not like they are heavy or uncomfortable. What gives?
You hit it right there. I've always enjoyed the Thereabouts and Outskirts films. They capture a sense of adventure so well. But the helmetless riding is, and has always been, the most ridiculous aspect captured in the films.
Yeah I totally agree, use helmets! The fun part is that they started the movie wearing helmets, but after they helped that lady changing the car tire they stopped using it.
this is super entertaining...how does it not have more views? Love these riders, it's nice to see ultra-super riders as kind of normal human beings (kinda, they still amazing)
Th Pr I’m a bit confused, I was referring to the man at the diner, he coulda just stick to his story about route 66...then somehow it ended up being about “if you don’t like it get out”
@@arturod.1144 His all-or-nothing sentiment ("If you don't like it, leave!") is lazy and usually wants to avoid even constructive criticism. Its embarrassing...not to mention the supernatural stuff.
Awesome movie! Outstanding edition, soundtrack and everything! Very entertaining! Wha t great adventure! Well done guys! Can’t wait to watch the outskirts 2 and 3!!! Big hug from Brazil!
🔝🚵♀ Top-notch content! This video embodies the spirit of cycling, and we're proud to add the Outskirts series to our collection. Looking forward to more! 💫
Adelina Barrow lol this says nothing about America. The American dream has been killed by taxes. Everything’s is taxed. For example if u buy a house u can’t sell it without paying 15 percent tax unless u wait 2 years. 10 percent sales tax. 13 percent additional state tax in states like california. High liquor tax in states like Washington. 40 percent highest tax bracket if u make good money Aadditional 16 percent social security, plus u pay taxes on your house every year, on your car, on gas, on soda, and literally everything u do. Essentially the more hardworking you are the more u r taxes so the government can give homeless people free heroine. And our tabs for listener plate cost 500. Used to be 100 because now they are building a train in Seattle. Everybody knows it’s a waist. Nobody is going to ride that damn train. Icy rich u pay 80 plus percent tax. The American dream benefits people who work 40 hour work weeks not people who risk their life savings to build a business. You have to go to college and be a pilot, doctor or something if u want to drive a 50k car. Or just get into another industry and work 100 hour work weeks. I mean millionaire rich. Whatever
Oh and Biden wants to raise taxes. Don’t we have enough? Our cities, our homes, everything got better under trump. Construction is booming. Through the roof. If u aren’t lazy u can easily make 100k. Easy. Everyone is busy making money. So many jobs. Because of coronavirus people have a lot of work. People I know that are web developers, coders, project managers, construction workers, everyone working overtime now. So much work. Easy to get hired. CNN will have u believing otherwise. All I’m saying is the American dream is good to make a very comfortable living. We spend 2 grand a month on food. But not without those 10 to 12 hour work days. And if u want to be a millionaire the taxes make it really hard as they are increased for really high income.
Many parts of California the only place you CAN ride is on the highway to get from one place to another because there are other roads or there are natural terrain features where there are no surface streets or access roads. Their riding on the highway was not surprising at all. Additionally, when I did Race Across America RAAM in 2007 the official race course put us on highways.
El sueño de los elegidos....sois para mi, una belleza inspiradora...lo agonico se mezcla con la musica en un caracter de talento y belleza en su poderosa frecuencia
@@cmtlr I agree with your statement. There are still many other scenarios that could happen, while riding that road, were a helmet could save you from a severe head injury
Nice film really appreciate it!!! I am still one that prefers function over form when it comes to something as simple as cycling. Give me an alloy frame, tubes, and comfy clothing over everything else any day!!
I saw a group of bike riders on a frontage road this spring, and I distinctly remember those VERY pink cleats which caught my eye that day. Can't help but wonder if I crossed paths with you on your route 66 journey!

Words like "organic" and maybe natural, best describe this film. I loved the challenges and various obstacles.
I loved this movie, great job. Thank you for showing an unbiased view of America, even though you did hit a pretty high percentage of crazies.
The dude in the house in St. Clair complaining about the racists was everything to me. One of the good ones. Thank you.
Watching this during COVID -19 in 2020 and loving it, wanting to get on the bike and explore right now!
Same as bro
Same....
Same! Giving me hella inspiration to cycle across Belgium
Same!
This is probably the coolest movie on the interwebs. You don’t even have to be a cyclist to see the coolness. Bravo!
This film is beyond amazing!! Thank you for making it!!!!
Two years on, what a great watch. Amazing achievement.👏👏👏

Great film. Watching second time now. Lucky You are.
Loved the rough at the edges funky film, so organic and funky!
Fun film. Love the idea of a twig cyclist in heavy calorie debt stepping up to the 70 oz steak challenge.
this genre of cycling content will age hilariously
this is what Rapha is about, amazing trip. thanks for sharing. epic ride! we need more of this !

Late to the party but love this film so good thanks for inspiring people to get out there.
Angus, mate, you are a rockstar. This was an incredible follow up to the Thereabouts films. Energy to the cycling soul.
She's the only one who had the huevos to ask for a ride
DopeDo huevos rancheros!!! 😂🤣😂🤣
Manages to irritate me so much at times, and then nail it with genuine, sincere moments! And then makes me want to go out and ride!
Epic & inspirational .... well done and thanks 👍🏻
Enjoyed the film, thank you
The vet with the tattoos was so cool you get how friendly most Americans are by watching stuff like this
Thanks for putting the soundtrack in the description, just what I was looking for!
What the fantastic 4!!! AMAZING
Great film, it looked like a really wonderful experience thanks guys. I feel inspired.
Absolutely ace! ❤️🏁🚴♂️
The guys rode Specialized bikes, but what was Sami's bike? The paint job reminded me of a classic Cinelli I used to own. Wonderful film.
It was a Standert frame from Berlin.
Very happy to see real captions on this film. This was awesome!
Freaken Epic!!! 10 out of 10
getting up at 7am and going for a ride. What a epic and motivational film!
Makes you think about not judging people at a glance and stopping to chat to them can lead to some incredible stories.
SO. MUCH. HIPSTER. Lol. But great film. Very inspiring.
What an amazing adventure! I love the southwest but it's not for the faint of heart.

guys! today you gave me more than netflix films, thanks a lot, very good documentary :)
It takes 11 days to complete the great American bike race from coast to coast. At least you guys had a good vacation.
These Outskirts movies are awesome! Can anyone recommend any similar?
Amazing Film! Really inspiring and makes me want to do a bike adventure

What do u mean u had to watch it for school? Can u explain?

damn, it makes me want to dump everything right now go places® just forward, like Forest. especially with that music in the background
very inspirational... what happens to the threat of snow? such suspense... makes me want to ride.
Fantastic film.. truly inspiring!
Why are there significant stretches where they're not even wearing a helmet? Especially after one of them mentions a death at 29:00.
Its so goofy; trading safety for style? Who knows! Not cool.
Incredible. Thank you for sharing
Gus and Lachlan and their crew are saving biking.
I love the description of the US.
"A country at the crossroads of history"
The money shot came a little early in the film.
Loved all of this, the genuine experience, the raw emotion and connections with the people
Really enjoyed this, very inspiring
Wow! Great film! Beautifully photographed and edited.
Great, great film!!!
Such a great film. This brought back a lot of memories. Nice work as always Rapha and the folks who took on this route.
Not sure why you'd want to bike on the shoulder of a highway, but cool film regardless. Also, no helmets???
Mike Edmonds yeah that surprised me.

Absolutely love the ethos and self progression! Why ditch the helmets on busy highways? Seems counterintuitive
If you get hit by a semi at 65mph a helmet is not going to do much.

There are a lot of really lonely people on the road. People who need to tell their story, And no one to take the time and listen.
