The video is called “Rules for Rulers” by CGP Grey. I’ve been thinking of recommending it to some of the social science teachers I work with to use the video as an opener to Civics for high school seniors or even some history classes as a good introduction to the multilayered and complicated world of politics and the history that it plays off of and creates. I am very curious as to your thought on the video and the idea I have, as while I work within the education system I am still fairly young and green. I hope you consider this comment : )
Hands down Darwin won. He had better disses; c’mon Mighty Morphin Michael Vick?!? That was perfection! And you can never go wrong talking about someone’s mom! 🤣🤣🤣
It really wasn't that good of a line. It goes completely against the lore. Like literally, it's just fake news. And while they're able to do so naturally, them partnering up with humans allows them to drastically improve the results of their training. Canonically as well, Pokémon choose their trainers. So they're literally willingly choosing who they want to follow into battle.
"Omg, your video game has fictional violence in it, how awful." Didn't Darwin also catch helpless creatures and kill them for science? Yeah like Darwin can say anything, especially after he ruined the lives of multiple of his children.
5:07 Ash did spend a lot of the Sun and Moon seasons in a school. Edit: Plus, the Ghost type verse is no longer accurate, considering that Ash has a Gengar.
You can tell media is made for kids when it involves kids doing whatever they want and no adult complains, which is what pokemon trainers have going. Reminds me of Super Sentai especially in the 80s where they would keep having orphans who live alone and somehow they survive, not needing a job to buy food or anything... japanese tv shows making it seem like you don't need parents when of course in japan if you're under 18 and orphaned, you legally need foster or adoptive parents.
I came here looking for some ERB a few years ago and stayed because of the history! Personally I would stick with Darwin in this rap battle. Loved how he referenced his own work too while dishing out some blows
Ash stayed more consistent throughout the battle, so he gets the win. The best line however, goes to Darwin. "And it was hard losing my daughters and their brothers, as hard as the wood that Oak gave your mother!"
The thing about the age of Trainers in the Pokemon world is that in later games, the age went from 10 to 15-ish in the 5th gen(Black and White) then lowered to 11 in the 7th gen (Sun and Moon). My guess that the reason they chose such a young age back then was because the targeted audience was children when Red and Blue(Green in Japan) came out and they wanted them to feel as if they were the ones adventuring out in this vast land of mystical and dangerous creatures. Later iterations changed the age possibly due to more teens and adults playing Pokemon as well, also perhaps Nintendo and Gamefreak realized that sending ten year olds out travelling to various locations (Cities, caves, forest, volcanoes, tundras, distorted world, etc) and catching creatures that can burn forests, shoot water that can cut through steel, or even changing the weather, kinda feels a little off to put into a child's mind if they were to believe that actual ten year olds can do that. Of course, it could just be them deciding to up the age of the Trainers as a sign saying that, yeah, maybe it's not a good idea to send kids off on their own. But, what do I know?
Legends of Arceus pretty much proves that a 10 year old will die in an instant if you send him off on a Pokemon journey with actual murderous ghosts like Gengar and literal giant carnivorous plants like Victreebel. And that was the past. Pokemon haven't evolved to be Pokemon fighting machines yet. Battling was pretty rare at the time. They're much more dangerous in the future where they're practically bred to brutalize Joey's Top Percentage Rattata. And even that rat can hyper fang your neck in a millisecond. That being said, I don't think any adult would also survive in the horrors of that world. I mean, I already mentioned Gengar. And also, Zubats are everywhere and Golbats can drink like... a gallon of blood. From anyone. Including humans.
He's actually 15, it's confirmed, but, he actually ages very slowly, and is stronger, very battle-adapted and more agile than anyone. It's the combination of the Pokedex and The Wish; The Pokedex has been confirmed of to be an ability granter? It's again very weird and complex. Now The Wish, also slows his aging as well as the other abilities
So, a comment about the whole "do kids even go to school in the pokemon world?" topic. Before Pokemon Journeys (the current airing show) It was assumed that there weren't normal schools. However, one of the main characters of the season, Chloe, actively goes to a regular school in Vermillion City, and her Mother also has a completely normal job that isn't Pokemon related at all. Just thought I'd share, because it shows more depth to the world (albeit 27 seasons in)

Darwin hands down mowed Ash, as disses on someone's work > disses on someone's family, especially since someone's work negatively affects the masses (going back to becoming hunchbacks). Not to mention actual usefulness of Darwin's work.
In the first chapter of the book of Genesis in the Old Testament, it details the creation of the universe, our planet and the life dwelling on said planet. Most Abrahamic religions accept or adapted this creation story into their holy texts. In Darwin’s time, this was the only accepted source for historical and heavenly truths. However his work was some of the first established research effectively question literal interpretations of Genesis. Since Darwin’s findings, 3 Popes have accepted the thesis of evolution as real.
Probably the best ERB ever. Ash barely wins with his line on Darwin marrying his cousin and losing his kids to a pokedex of old timey diseases, which just goes to show you how great this battle is: here's this snotty little 10 year old bringing enough heat to bring down the scientist of a generation, just on straight shade, even while the wise old scientist is giving him the licks he deserves.
Oh c'mon, Darwin deffinitly won :D i think there was more nostalgia leaning towards ash ;) Ash had some really Nice Bars, but Darwin came back on almost, if not every one of them, and got more heavy Hits in i think, the oak bar, Vic, the not tuning 11 bar, going after ashes eternal youth but also referering to the effektive and not very effektive that some attack had in the games, saying he is at a disadvanteg, the line about playing with his balls... Just too many of those to give it to ash in my opinion :D Tho i have to admit, if not for the oak line ash would have had the Best Bar about "Gitta catch em All" :D
So he called ash immortal? How is that a dis? And this doesn't age well because in Sun and moon he does turn 11. The oak bar was a shit mom joke, the vic bar was good but false because Pokemon are treated as partners of cooperative success not slaves, playing with balls was tame. Ash made fun of every aspect of his life, from his outdated garbage book to his terrible social skills as it was referenced that he annoyed the ship captain on the beagle, the glitchy old man referenced the fact that Darwin has mental issues, also killed his children by boning his cousin sealed it.
I made sure to like all the videos I like a long time ago and I have that habit rooted in me ... I like this video with the day it came out what the f*** happened to my like!???
Ash is a Pokémon and Mr. Mime is the father. MatPat said so lmao. But seriously, the amount of damage he survives, and his ridiculous strength? Like he throws an Onyx or something. That thing should weigh as much as like 6 SUVs. No way Oak is the father. I’m too biased as someone who is a fan of Pokémon, at least in the early days… and like Darwin just doesn’t have a fun cartoon, so I don’t know if I can decide who won, fairly. I’d definitely pick Ash.
I don't think Ash was as savage as half these comments are suggesting. Darwin was Dar-winning the entire time for me, even without the final line. Better flow, better disses, no pointless lines to set up rhymes, lots of internal rhymes and alliteration, Darwin no diff

I love these but you should really go back a couple seconds after each time you pause to make sure you don’t miss anything!
Good idea. Thanks!
Where did you get the shirt
My research reversed the first verse of the church
Altho not true that was a great rhyme
Oh c'mon, Darwin deffinitly won :D i think there was more nostalgia leaning towards ash ;)
Ash had some really Nice Bars, but Darwin came back on almost, if not every one of them, and got more heavy Hits in i think, the oak bar, Vic, the not tuning 11 bar, going after ashes eternal youth but also referering to the effektive and not very effektive that some attack had in the games, saying he is at a disadvanteg, the line about playing with his balls... Just too many of those to give it to ash in my opinion :D
Tho i have to admit, if not for the oak line ash would have had the Best Bar about "Gitta catch em All" :D
@@rpgfanatic9719 you're very biased.
@@MouldMadeMind cool
Good luck with your dieting!
"Horribly executed... and, of course, the FAMOUS Charles Darwin!"
I think this guy might be biased...
Edit: grammar
To be fair he was talking about evolution when he said that. He also said he’s a huge Pokémon fan.
I made sure to like all the videos I like a long time ago and I have that habit rooted in me ...
I like this video with the day it came out what the f*** happened to my like!???

No one could come back from ash’s firs verse
I think Darwin one
Skill share killed my family
I was more of a Magic:the Gathering player
Ash won
Mr. Mine
“White ash”
Where is black ash?
Darwin only got a few savage lines, ash hit more consistently
Agreed
And it was mostly fan theory stuff or plain wrong anyways.
Please react to Trump vs Hilary there’s a lot of history for you that I think you’ll enjoy
best
Darwin destroyed Ash
Is there any culture with the shorts and crap. Lol welcome to the modern era man. Where some parents actually let that ish happen. Also the answer was japanese culture XD
Terry's old
I immediately disqualified Ash Ketchum when he pulled that "Reesee's peesees" crap.
As somebody with the last name Reese, hearing someone pronounce Reese's Pieces that way pisses me off to no end.
