Hello mate. I love your videos about how to approach snapper that are parked up. But just quickly, how do you identify the right terrain? I don't have a boat or fish finder. Is there a resource you use to check out reef structures and stuff like that? Or do you rely on tip offs etc. I'm a shore diver but am new to spearfishing in NZ waters, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great vids as well. You have a real talent for teaching.
Hi Anton, there is no need for sounders of Boats to target snapper in NZ. Look for good places along the shore that have lots of kelp as snapper prefer to rest up in kelpy areas. When hunting them look for variation in bottom that may create ledges or channels between the reef. These are good areas to start looking for snapper.
@@WettieNZ awesome cheers mate. Been living in Australia for 15 years and there's no terrain like that here. Moving back home though soon and can't wait to get amongst it! Thanks again and keep up the awesome vids
Awesome video. Another awesome video I mean! Makes me wanna try spearfishing ASAP once I'm back home to NZ. Sooooo many great eating fish in and around Auckland. Delish.
This is the best tasting snapper in the ocean Period, along with dentex.. 😉 In Greece we call it “fagri” and this exact type is called “tsaousi”. I have read somewhere that it is not native to the Mediterranean but now exists there in abundance, I know that because every rock or fallout holds them at depths over 80 m to 150 m and if they are feeding a inziku/pirate or slow jig does serious damage (thank you Japan). It is amazing that in NZ their habitats are even in 3 m of water. I had the New Zealand ones In USA twice (marketed as NZ sea bream), their taste was amazing and the fish where properly closed (ikijime style) and that made all the difference in the world literally.. since the fish where delivered from the other side of the world..!!
7,40 precioso lance, muy bonitos fondos y aguas limpias, buen sitio para la pesca submarina, enhorabuena 7.40 beautiful cast, very nice bottoms and clean waters, good place for spearfishing, congratulations
Super useful tips - thanks gents helps a lot to know what your thinking when hunting em!
