A very nice example indeed of a Masons Black Silver Spur II. You are absolutely correct in your description of the craftsmanship that went into these patrician motor cars. The BMW-made cars are merely a badge and are not built to this level ... but priced much higher. Real Rolls-Royces, such as this, show no seams, and have beautiful finish throughout. The grille was handmade out of stainless steel and polished to a faretheewell, quite unlike the common, stamped-out version on the Phantom. Properly maintained, these cars will last a lifetime, and this car appears to have been beautifully kept. Excellent value and a lot of car for the money. Well done.
The older ones really are Rolls Royce cars. I have owned a 1965 Silver Cloud III since 1982 and wouldn't swap it for any of the current range. It is in impeccable condition and I don't ever buying anticipate another car
Beautiful car I too have one, not so keen on the black leather though, but Stunning. Yes, the last of the Real Rolls-Royces. Not those Ugly Monstrosities on offer today. Have you noticed nearly every time a Rolls is exhibited online, they're nearly always out of petrol, running on fumes.!!
Since 1971, Rolls Royce have not made cars. The car division was separated from the loss making aircraft engine division and taken over by various companies before BMW bought them. When all considered, they actually didn't do a bad job at surviving. Small engineering companies in the automotive field have a difficult job making profit. They made a product for a niche market and fulfilled that role well - in my opinion. To this day nothing compares to sitting in the back of these cars be it a Benz, BMW, Jaguar or Maybach etc etc.
Love Rolls-Royce hate hype. Ooh...remote mirrors, Power windows power door locks cruise control all those " special Rolls-Royce luxury comfort and convenience features ". that you can also find on a Chevy Sonic. Did you HEAR that poor Engine before he dropped the hood quickly on it? Several things are very wrong with it. I have never heard a rolls Royce BMW engine sound that dry... Belts, pulleys, bearings ??? SOMETHING is in trouble under there IMHO.
Great car , do you know the people who bought it ? Just trying to figure out if they had to spend allot of money on it or if it's it very expensive to own . I really want one for wedding service ,but they scare me to death as I'm a poor person. Thanks
Not quite right about the leather. It was Scandanavian hyde - used by RR because little or no barbed wire is used there. But the cows were not raised for the purpose of providing leather for RRs !!! I presume the cows were eaten as normal.
Scandanavion moo cows, no barbed wire. Was the engine knitted by the queen. Did god create the body shell? Are they real, Holy cow. God save the queen. OK now, transmission by general motors, suspension by Citroen, engine management by bosh, rear view mirrors by Chrysler, a/c by general motors. Rolls Royce's are products of every auto parts suppliers in the world. Then assembled in the UK. They don't make anything, but they put it all together!! What they do best is come up with fantastic price tags. Very clever company.
Their greatest triumph was selling themselves to BMW for a ridiculous price. The cars themselves were never up to the engineering and construction standards of their day...at least post War...and very troublesome.
More elegant and distinguished and prestige and status on the roads and in the events than the Mercedes S Class or BMW 7 serie , a car surpass the both cars in combine ...And of course the D american cadillac fleetwood brougham which fall behind both F German cars ....
I hope own it in my collection... but i want answer and information on maintenance. I own several luxus sedan ...M.B 600 w220 v12...audi S8 d2.... and i want know if RR is more expansive than my mercedes by exemple ?????
I don't think so. Rolls Royce are expensive if you have a crash and need to get parts, but normal maintenance is not that expensive since the cars are pretty simple (big V8, GM autobox, etc.). Nothing too complicated.
Thank you... yes like my "ex"...during very jjlong time i had old (1985/95 models) Jaguars and Daimler mechanics and maintnance was cheaper ...beetween a french compact car (6 linear in 3,6 and 4.0) and a french premium(for.V12 5.3 and 6.0).......but parts like doors. ..seats...etc.. was very very expensive....avoid crash is very important if you want keep your money in dafett
What do you mean when you say "this is back when Rolls Royce's still was hand built cars"? they have always been built by hand, and still are. clearly you don't know much about Rolls Royce. :/
If you spent House money on a car, unless you are a chav lottery winner.... You will look after it or pay a minion to do so. Personally i'd remove the body and build a camper on the chassis. But i'm a philistine!

What was giving to you on the Spur II versus the Spur? Never heard of the Spur II.

Beautiful car. Nice detail job too. The black paint looks great.

What a beautiful automobile!
I can see 5 K being spent on the engine soon sounded awful.
Is it true that back in the day, Rolls Royce had this sales slogan?
"If you can't get laid in a Rolls Royce, you just can't get laid!"
Leon Allan Davis:... doubtful, certainly not in England!!
No.
Amazing luxiry car ❤

Nice, although this was more the era of mass production for Rolls......and that car sounds like it was rode hard and put away wet!
Very Tank's for this Report abouts the comfortable & Very buty Car RR.
SuperSpider.
Where do you get parts for the thing?
Is there a good mechanic boy in the area?a skilled one, that is! I mean, this is a necessity ,just in case!
Additionally, how much are they? (the parts)
5 times more than Mercedes parts. (ball park figure)
