- John Farnham performs Help at the Whispering Jack concert.
Recorded live at the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Centre, Melbourne in March 1987 and was broadcast on national TV. An edited VHS version (100 min) was released later in 1987. An edited DVD version (68 min) was included on the 20th Anniversary re-release of Whispering Jack on 25 November 2006.
Help was released in 1980 on the Uncovered album. It reached #8 on the Kent Music Report.

December 2023 who’s here? I used to work for an Aussie family back in HongKong long time ago and I remember the CD of him that they have and I played and listened and sang along with this song so many times! Best version of a Beatles song I heard more than 20 years ago.

last Tuesday week on 20th of this month i had just lost my mum she was 92yrs and her funeral was this week😥 i was her son as well her care. in her family she was 6 out of 7 she was the last one and now they are back together again🙏 Boy i do so, so, mist her so much 😥
I'm one of 7 my mother will be 93 in a month. She's in care. I've been stuck in Cambodia due to covid I'm a 65 year old woman totally on my own and lack of finances to come home to Australia and establish a life.
I've Missed both my children get married. Missed meeting both my baby grandchildren. It's not over until it ends I guess

Wow I completely forgot this version of Help. It's my favorite one. This version was very popular in the Philippines back in the 80's. Of course never knew the singer but it kept on playing by our radio stations. Thank you Celine for bringing him back to me. Now I can listen to him whenever I want. Ive always love singers with husky voice like Bonnie Tyler, Kim Carnes, R8d Stewart and of course John Farnham.

I know every word of this song, John can't mime and I did the film clip with him in the studio for 2 days and the cover of the Album with my hands over his face. He was so thoughtful to work with and kept checking if I needed a break with my hands up over my head to cover his face. Lovely memories and yes he just gets better with time.
I stumbled upon "The Voice" about 2yrs ago. Oh! What a Happy Accident!! It was this performance that I fell in love with John Farnham! I listen to him daily. Honestly, I can not remotely picture him being Anything but Happy, upbeat and Always SMILING..Oh loving that Smile!!

His Voice is spectacular but I believe the Tina Turner version is even more arresting, even though she covered him, because of her life story. If you watch her singing help at Rio in 1988 it brings tears to your eyes.

Being not much of a Beatles fan, I was shocked when my little sister pointed out to me that this song was an original Beatles hit. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a completely different song, and I was like, "MAN! THIS IS HOW YOU REVIVE A SONG!" You make it your own!

I never quite 'got' the Beatles either. Hearing this and discovering it was a Beatles' song, I thought, "Wow, I guess I do like a song by the Beatles." Then I listened to the original.... "nope... still dont'." John Farnham is just awesome, that's all.

This is Farnham's best performance of this song. Imagine if the Beatles had been sent a tape of this version in 1964...it would've sent them in a wholly different direction sooner.
