would love to travel to Wales/great Britain someday to ride the rails. I've been fortunate to travel on trains in us, Canada, Switzerland, Italy , Austria, Germany and Japan. was.m ost impressed by the shinkansan. but I love steam locomotives above all. beautiful country, Wales. thanks again for the great videos

Thats okay Mike, I have been travelling from Somerset to North Wales every year for over 20 years, can't get enough of it!

thanks for the reply Pete. interesting in that it seemed to be started for passenger transportation rather than being used as an industrial railroad

I think it was a bit of both, originally being produce and animals form farms in the area, both in and out.

Very nice. I filmed Joan on a return from Welshpool to Llanfair.

Hi Philip, thanks for watching. There is nothing better than travelling through Wales hauled by a narrow gauge steam locomotive. It just takes you back to a quieter slower way of life. Cheers Pete

what was this line originally used for?

Hi Mike, the railway was opened in 1903 to link the market town of Welshpool with the rural community of Llanfair Caereinion, In 1922 the Cambrian Railways were merged with the GWR and they absorbed the W&L in 1923. The original line closed under BR's auspices in 1956. Pete

I do believe the carriage of passengers ended in the early 1930s because a bus service was started , guess what ? The bus service. was operated by the GWR .

Sorry for this late reply thanks for watching and your comments. The GWR is no more but the trains still run, we are so lucky. Cheers Oete
