Best boss in the best raid. I absolutely LOVE doing my best cid impression and saying the voice lines in unison with him lol. "I have been called the God of Thunder. You will now know why! Upon my holy blade the very world lies in balance! AND NOW THE SCALES WILL TIP!!"
In Japanese he calls out his move "Balance breaker" or in kanji "The destruction of equilibrium". Which is something considering what he was in the origin game.
I feel like the following instruction was given to the VA: 'You are playing a quasi godlike being of myth, legend, and horror. Subtle died and its corpse was crushed beneath your boot' ....and I fucking love it.
I just did this for the first time last night and I was completely blown away!! I couldn't believe he wasn't the final boss of the raid! I didn't know what to expect of orbonne, and it became my favourite 24 man
It's still my favourite 24-man raid right now, though that may change once the NieR raid comes out. A shame that there are some people in FFXIV who hate Orbonne and are willing to just leave their party the second they load in :(

They're basically testing the Warriors of Light, before they go to face Ultima. Hence what he says before the transition phase. They've been guarding her seal ever since Ramza defeated her. They themselves can't stand a chance against her, so they waited for champions who could best them.

He is kind of the game breaker of that entire game just because his particular class has not only all of the special knight skills, but they are stronger than the other knights individual skill power set as well. Honestly, he could take Ultima in terms of mechanics. However in terms of Lore, he probably believes that his time may eventually run out, and he wants to leave the world, and the duty, in more capable hands.
