The more I see you working with that scythe, the more convinced I am that one would come in handy around here. If nothing else, it'd help loosen up my back.
Finally ordered my blade and snath and am really looking forward to using it at my home. I love all your videos: so much helpful information, and such a beautiful landscape. Sweden looks a lot like Maine.
Thanks a lot! Right now we have started the annual work of mowing 45 hectars of natural meadows! Simply just love this work, being outdoors all day, camplife and a lot of cool characters in the team!
Wonderful video. Using the scythe to clear large thorny bushes and brambles is an interesting of mine. My property has a large amount of Himalaya Blackberry. Is there a preferred preparation for the blade for cutting plants such as black berries?
Actually I realize that it's not told in the video. But yes, do not do this immediately after peening when the edge is sensitive and thin. You need to have honed it for some houers, and in the cycle the edge shall be closer to next peening!
Hi. Im inexperienced mower. Your videos are very inspirational for going out and doing some scything 👍. Are you using a thicker and heavier blade for this Rosebush job (looks like thicker blade, but im not sure)? I suppose that my scythes edge would be destroyed in such a job (even if use a blade at a thickness where it's needs to be peened again). What brand is your scythe?
I use a normal fux hartstahl 65 blade that is not peened to new, like closer to the next peening. Right handed a Bevel can be pretty thin and take saplings, twigs etc.

Nice using a scythe for that. I've started using prunings/cuts from thorny bushes in dead hedges.
