There is no such thing as a coincidence. The fact that you did not collide with this wall means that you are energetically aligned with me and the hitbox.
I never really understood his power and why I would bump off some things and slide off others, this video explained ALL of that and made it make sense. Great video dude!
Quick tip that helps most of the time, if you line up the end of the d in bound with the first object you want to slide off of it will almost always bounce you off of it

That's so cool. It's kinda like Genji's Swift Strike in Overwatch. It tries its hardest to put you to the point where your crosshair (or in this case, lack thereof) is pointing.
When I played a lot of NInja Wesker (complete stealth build on Léry's) when he came out, I used this tech without thinking too much to get from A to B. I never really thought of it as being actually usefull in chase. But I remember getting a hit with it in that location at 0:27
I noticed this quirk a long while ago, but never really got any practical use out of it, yet. Just for getting from place to place easier on indoor maps/cluttered places. It's really cool! Thought this was more well-known. Corner surfing kinda works on the same principle as trimping, but in reverse, I think.
OMG That wall riding tech looks great! I sometimes had those favourable bumps like the ones you showed at the beginning once I was dashing for distance around tree stumps but didn't know it was unintentional. I am still not save enough for hugtechs on wesker so maybe this will blow my mind. Thanks!

I personally discovered it by accident 3 days ago and called Urosurf, but you did a pretty good job on explaining it.
Great video I've been replacing a lot of my rebounds with surfs and you consistently get more distance and can play further forcing survivors where you want them
When I play Wesker, sometimes stuff like this happens and I’m genuinely shocked whenever it does work. I knew it was a real tech after a bit, but having someone finally explain how this works is a huge relief that people have found a way to make it work intentionally.
I just get shocked that i manage to get people when i literally started a month ago lol
You found the reason for another weird interaction you would have as Wesker so we can make it consisent, I love it. I'm still waiting on someone working out why you can bounce off a wall backwards and get insane distance from it.

Fun Fact: Genji (in overwatch) actually has a similar tech where he will slide around walls during dash if he has LOS to the other side (like hanamura’s windows on 1st point). His momentum won’t get changed the same way as weskers, so he can still be prevented from going around if the walls angle is harsh enough, but it’s still pretty cool.

@@aaroncoby5508 they aren't referring to similarities in the way your thinking, with genji if you dash to an area you are looking at that has an object in the way but you have los to your dash you will dash around the object such as a billboard. With Wesker it's almost exactly the same scenario, if you have los to your dash but there is a wall in the way you can go around it with proper timing and spacing.

This probably won't be patched because it looks intentional. From the way it works I would bet the devs repurposed the Nurse's blink entity, which would have about the same collision profile. Even Demogorgan can wall surf a little bit, it seems to be part of designing these kind of killers.

Hmm, this might get me to play Wesker more. I always feel I couldn't get the right angles to really get survivors despite the speed... but with this, it could be sick.
so basically if the center of your camera (or close to that) doesn't have any obstructions u can slide off everything thats close to the center but not right in it

Imagine you have the nurse add on that let’s you see where your teleporting. The game has a set spot at set distance it doesn’t care about anything in your path as long as you thread the needle of a clear open path.

this explains why you sometimes see bs looking dashes around corners from the survivor pov, i had always just assumed it looked unfair from the survivor pov because of desync or hit validation, making it look like he activated his dash wayy too early around the corner. but it was simply because the power has a different collision size from his model.

Think of your screen in 3 sections
The middle section is the collision
The 2 outer sections of your screen should be the walls are when your dashing
This definitely seems very similar to the physics quirk that lets you "surf" in TF2 & CS:GO. The quirk being, effectively, using your camera angle to redirect the forced velocity from a slope to send yourself forward rather than downward. So, it would be pretty accurate to call this "surfing".
Maybe you could use a crosshair on Wesker to pull the tech off more consistently?
Okay, now this is epic
So what I learned very rapidly, because you explained it very clearly in the first few minutes. Is that if I play with a crosshair, I can accurately judge if my aim will be within a collision zone or not. I already started adding a crosshair to a few killers you wouldn't expect to use it on (like Nemesis) to great success and Wesker feels like he could benefit from this.
Ooh, I never even thought about adding a crosshair to Nemesis, i'll have to try that!

@@inakiarias7465 blame behavior, not their fault they made pixel perfect mechanics and dont allow people to spend their precious time in chase to use them properly. Its high risk high reward, if your off by a pixel its a complete waste of time and they make distance. R6 siege at least gives your the dot in the center of the screen for your pixel perfect cross map nades. Shits awesome and you learn to live with cool bullshit, adapt and overcome brother.

I already figured this out yesterday on accident and was doing it all day but didn't know it was a tech lol
so.. is the collision detection hitbox just smaller than the bump hitbox, OR is it when you slid off of the first wall, you will slide off of any consequtive one.
cuz theoretically, if it detects your collision as soon as you click dash, what would matter would be the range at wich there was a wall right?
Considering that you slid off of a wall at the last moment the prompt showed up that is.

Any models dont have collision by themselves. See any model so that barrel is a model. That building is a model. So model that is round or oval, will have a round or oval clip . Clips are brushes that players cannot pass through unless its a script brushmodel. Thats the only clips that can be accessed. In games like COD Zombies where you cant open doors until you have enough points then you can buy the door thus canceling the clip.

That first clip is just baffling to me
They need to fix Wesker’s collision - I literally get choke slammed on nothing. And hit through stuff. It’s way too forgiving for killer. But. Knowing BHvR they do stuff like leaving bugged merciless in the game for months - but immediately kill switch eyrie of crows due to the ramp bug. So they probably won’t fix it.

I am in a huge conflict with this stuff, as I am with most things in this game that are derived from bugs and coding mistakes.
On one hand, I admire and respect the sheer amount of time and will put by dedicated people to find all of that.
On the other hand, I find it straight up unfair and believe that it should all be removed, as well as any other bug in any other character, be that Blight’s hugtechs or Knight’s stupid positioning during his power use.
Idk man, not trynna be that guy but if Blight's hug tech got merced, idk why Wesker has it lmao
