It is so easy for parody to be mean-spirited and unfunny. It's a shortcut for weak comics to illicit cheap laughs through mimicry. This is one of the few times I've watched comedy in this style that manages to be both hilarious and at the same time show great affection for the subject matter. I am now going around introducing friends to the English Heritage channel with the long game intention of building up to showing them this. Thanks so much for it!

Fake news and alternative facts were also a thing in Victorian England.
This was spot on. The only thing you missed was a subtle dig about how onions are associated with “the poor” followed by a knowing glance at us, the poor.
That’s the best part of the crocomb character, her low-key mean girl energy that she lets slip in.
Being of the higher status, Lord and Lady Braybrookes does not eat onions. But I will add them because the rich clearly have no taste.
And don't use too much Orange Flower Water. You wouldn't want to "cheapen" it!

I absolutely love the amount of work put into these parodies. Even the people that I don't know much about are just so much fun to watch. But the fact that I just absolutely love mrs. Crocombe and I've actually made a couple of things that she's had on the programs that I've watched makes this so much better.

This is the kind of parody I love to watch. They don’t throw shade, they’re not being rude nor disrespecting the original character either. In fact I appreciate that they took the time to pick up Mrs Crocombe’s slang and signature expressions well. Well scripted and purely comical. Loved it.

I am a huge Mrs Crocombe fan and love to watch her cook. The way you move as Mrs Crocombe, talk and your facial expressions are brilliant. The two of you complement each other and amplify the humor. I enjoy you and this Parody very much!
I got her cookbook for christmas. I was thrilled! I always watch Mrs. Crocombe with my mum, and she completely surprised me. If you don't have it, I highly recommend, they did a beautiful job. There's a transcription at the end of the book for Mrs. Crocombe's original recipe notebook.
Kathy's a pretty chill person too! You can find her on IG as @historicalhippo1 - so you can see who the person behind that version or Mrs. Crocombe is! (For those not in the know, she is one of several Mrs. Crocombes re-enacting at Audley End, though admittedly the most famous).
