She was more implicated to ever in the project and in the songwritting then ever. This album was notably to use more trap and hip-hop music in songs like ''Let Me Love You'' and ''Everyday'', explored so many genres in this album like House, rock, disco, reggae and soul, aside to she distanced her sound of her two first albums (The song ''Moonlight'' was the only song to remain at her sound of ''Your Truly'' and ''My Everything''). It's was the pont between the two first albums and her work later (more RnB, trap and hip-hop). My favorite album of her and it's was her best album of her career.
The song knew better/forever boy was about getting over big Sean (first song) and moving on with Ricky (her forever boy) and then after the album was out and she started dating mac she released a full version of knew better (here on TH-cam, highly recommend) where it’s a rap verse about how Ricky was the bad one who made her cry and how mac was her soulmate. It’s super cute. Loved her and mac together. Knew better/ forever boy were two separate full songs but she had to choose one so she did half of each because she loved them both lol.
