I live about a mile from the site of the old plant! The final version of the plant before it's decommissioning was an RDF (refuse derived fuel) plant. The same turbine hall shown in the film was also in operation until 2019, and standing until 2021 when the site was entirely demolished except for the substation and support buildings.
Closed 1968 after four years operation. The ANS history details numerous problems w the project, where the primary problem was RPV reactor water leaks (vessel required major rework before initial operation). The 1960s then did have its own problem builds, along w great successes like Point Beach, still running.
Yeah! They added those to a few reactors back in these days to try to get the steam conditions up to par with off-the-shelf (fossil) turbines. I don't have a full list on hand but this is related: www.ans.org/news/article-1309/the-hook-ons/

Thanks again for taking the time to digitize and upload these old films!
My pleasure! It's a fun hobby.
I like at 3:24 when he says "building a reactor takes many months of planning." If only it was the easy today! Really enjoy watching these old films.

I had a professor who liked to say that the nuclear industry set the turbine industry back 50 years due to steam quality.
