@@MrCloe333 the story is the downs were formed by snowfields forming over the limestone, thats hypothetical bollocks, they were formed probably around the same time doggerland was flooded when the greenland ice sheets abruptly melted and flooded large areas of uk and ireland. The south and north downs are basically large scale flood plain riverbanks!
